How? KH2 is 12 years old. Not to mention. For everyone here that did play KH2 what questions were still unanswered at the end?? NONE.
KH2 ends in a way that if u stop right there the story is completed. Literally the only question u have at the end of KH2 is what did Mickey write in the letter.
For you to even be interested in KH3 that means u had to at least follow the story past KH2. Which is why i laugh when people be saying (i waited 10 years for KH2) No u didn't. U waited 5.
KH3 story is the culmination of the story started with Birth By Sleep.
KH2 already ended the story started with KH1.
Now if u want to complain that u had to have multiple systems to keep up with the series at that time then fine. Thats a valid argument. But the only reason people are calling these games" spinoffs" is cause it wasn't called KH3. When in fact BBS and DDD are more important to the series then KH2 is.
Like Master Xehanort and Aqua didn't even appear until BBS. Just think about that. Then notice that you are calling these games "spinoffs" lol.

All of the original org members were introduced and died between Chain of memories and KH2.
Their revivals/introduction of new members/Origins of the coat/ their "true" goal were shown in DDD/UX-Carries over into KH3.

A true retcon? No. The "rules" for everything that is happening has either been flat out said or was always hinted at (beside time travel)
But it's obvious the story as of now wasn't thought of at the time KH2 was completed. Again KH2 ended in a way where the story up until that point has been finished. Why do u think the next game after was a prequel?

Yeah, you was right. Watching this debriefing pretty much caught me up. It’s crazy how the direct sequel from the last console title has no bearing on the plot.

They still haven't shown who the second playable character is. I mean yea everyone is expecting it to be riku but with all the riku/mickey scenes shown you would think if it was Riku they would of show something playable by now.
I think they gonna throw a curve ball and have the second playable character be Roxas at the end of the game cause Sora lost to Xehanort.
