Remember the SOHH thread when the title track hit radio :wow:

That sample flip :wow:

The actual album wasn't terrible but kinda meh. At the same time it's a very interesting album because it's Jay trying to be more like...well, Nas. There's more introspection, social commentary, and some weak attempts at radio songs.

IMO Jay would be a better rapper and have had a better (late) 00s if it had been a successful album. Instead he went full retard with BP3 and MCHG for commercial success, stadium tours, etc.

this has always been a sore spot for me, cuz I'm in the minority that finds Kingdom Come to be Jay's most mature album. Not his best, not my favorite, but hands down the most mature...so I kinda look sideways when people flat out call it the worst. :manny:

The actual album was straight garbage

I agree.

At the same time it's a very trash album because it's Jay trying to be more like...well, Nas. There's more introspection, social commentary

Jay-Z's never been good at that stuff. I respect Jay-Z because, for the most part, he plays to his strengths.

1. Reasonable Doubt (Classic)
2. The Blueprint (Classic)
3. The Black Album (Classic)
4. Vol. 2 (Classic)
5. American Gangster (4 1/2, cohesive)
6. Magna Carta (fukkwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run, Grail)
7. Vol. 1 (Sunshine kills this album…fukk… Streets, Where I’m from, You Must Love Me…)
8. BP3 (Sorry critics, it’s good. Empire (Gave Frank a run for his money))
9. Dynasty (Intro alone…)
10. Vol. 3 (Pimp C verse alone… oh, So Ghetto)
11. BP2 (Too many songs. fukking Guru and Hip Hop, ha)
12. Kingdom Come (First game back, don’t shoot me)

Remember when Jay ranked his albums and listed it as his worst? Do you consider it his worst? I revisited it recently, and outside a few cuts, didn't think it was that bad.

Dap n rep for just posting that classic pic the GOAT put up....:ehh:

blueprint 3 is his worst album. KC is a fresh record, you can throw it pretty much anytime you want and it's enjoyable.

Right again, it's not his best work but definitely doesn't deserve the title of his worst either. You can throw this on in any setting, also weird but I know more women that know this album word for word more than any other Jay record, shrug if that makes it corny, so be it, I find it fascinating.

Breh, Blueprint 3 is pretty bad.

I was done with Jay after that. Happy to hear a verse, but, wasn't checking for no more albums.

KC > B3 and MCHG
