King Of The Ring has the potential to be just as big as the rumble, if not bigger

I can't lie. Seeing an 8 man tourney in 1 night featuring:

Nakamura
DB
Rusev
Miz
Ziggler
Rollins
Jeff Hardy
And call up my nikka Patrick (Velveteen Dream)

where the winner is #1 contender to whichever of the two main titles they want

Would be

Could also sub in Kofi, but honestly, if he's in it, he would deserve to win it. He's NEVER had a main title match has he?

yes.

the only tournament in american ppv that really worked was wrestlemania iv and that was billed as ANDRE VS HOGAN II on some 'guaranteed to see' shyt

WWF/E PPV buys from 1985 to 2012

i'm gonna compare ppvs with tournaments, the month before, the month after, since mania iv

these are all WWE shows tho.

instead of saying "American wrestling fans", you should instead say "WWE sports entertainment fans".

Don't know why they got rid of the KOTR PPV, it's such a solid way to build new stars. Owen, Austin, HHH, Edge, Angle, Lesnar.

Only now that they don't rely on PPV buys would this be a good idea...

KOTR was always a low-drawing PPV, as Ed said earlier in the thread, mostly because of the fact the tournament was always a hard sell.

They could pull it off better now, they def. have enough talent to do it as well. It would've actually been a good idea for their overseas 'network event' in the UK.

Did somebody say WrestleMania IV's tournament was dope? Yikes. Yeah, if you're about 8 and just happy to see your favorites. Watchin' that shyt now would make you realize bad booking didn't just start in recent years.

They did use the Network last time, Semifinals and Finals were shown there exclusively.

I think we all know the concept of King of The Ring is dope and could benefit wrestlers, fans and the company if done right. But WWE has shown they can't figure it out time and time again, so hoping for them to finally get it is like any outlandish fantasy booking scenario imo :manny:

I still doubt KOTR has any potential to be big or bigger than the Royal Rumble. If it did, it would have happened the many years it was in effect.

The Rumble is a unique match that happens once a year... while one could say the tournament also was once a year, it also consists strictly of one-on-one matches, which you can pretty much get to see all the time.
