I think what's frustrating is that this all seems like a byproduct of nearly everyone being unable to admit that they weren't regular watchers of the WNBA before, and want to see the player that brought their attention to do well.

And there's no shame in admitting it, honestly. But doubling and tripling down on this act that is basically a media version of parents telling one of their kids to go a little easier on their younger sibling is nasty work. There's never been a single "Chosen One" status rookie in any sport that didn't eventually have to earn their spot in the league the hard way, so she doesn't deserve any special treatment.

Stop wearing Shell toes and Sambas. They’re way past that now. The Pharrell joints, the NMD’s, and various other shoes are comfortable AF. I got some Sambas and wore them once.. them shyts hurt the top of my foot so I put them up.
