Man I fukk with Kevin hard but he was definitely on some old head babble shyt last night on IG live :heh: talking about 18 year olds should wear blazers and dress shoes to help the image of young black men and niqqas should wear suit once a week no matter the occasion

Its some truth to that

When black men start really gettin money, I notice how the wardrobe changes.

One of my homies started making big money straight outta college and this nikka went from sweatpants & Jordans, now he's always suited & booted.

My pops & my uncles also got a heavy suit collection

Im building my own suit collection too.

nikkas that get money - have suit collections.

A black man in a suit is powerful... Its just different.... It separates you.

It was cool, but i went in with no illusions. I did 'race work' everywhere i went.

But I did enjoy the hogwarts vibe, chef prepared meals, and expanded educational opportunities. :ehh: In public school, i was so advanced they just sat me in the back of the room and let me do my own thing. Independent schools allowed me to feel normal in a way, to actually have to fight for grades. Many of my peers, black, white, and otherwise, got perfect SAT scores.

In hs, i was the only non korean girl in a lot of advanced math and science classes (a right i had to fight for, btw, crazy story), so i was cool with the white nerds. One guy went on to head a lab at MIT. I set him up with his wife. :ld:

Some aint wit it tho. My brother was/ is smart, but didn't really pursue it. We tried to get my niece in the cipher, but they were cool. Meanwhile tho, my SIL's bff took us up on it and got her daughter into one of the top schools. I already knew ppl who went there, so i had a few looking out for her. She went on to model for benneton. :obama:

What are your thoughts on home schooling kids?

If we had kids, we'd homeschool until hs, but send them to the right camps, involve them in the right extracurriculars, etc. So they'd be socialized, but from a distance.

It wasnt a healthy environment for the psyche of unprepared black children. Everybody i know who made it thru unscathed mentally is weirdly motivated in some way to go against the herd. Even my man, whose family actually paid his way thru these institutions, is weirdly focused on doing it his way. Never had a scholarship, never applied for the affirmative action internships, etc.

Not bc he wasnt firm in his blackness, but bc he felt he would be giving them a sense of ownership over him. Take a look at our alumni publications and you see exactly who and what they were trying to advance. :sas1:

Nah it makes sense. I used to have suits for days cuz I was a heavy church goer. Now people don’t even wear suits to church no more, much less own a suit.

It's always good to have a few tailored suits in the wardrobe. If you go out, you'll notice the difference in your interactions with people.
