This is true. Maybe not a circle but the quality of lifestyle. Harlem went to top-tier prep schools and the Ivy she chooses. She was unknowingly by her parents put in a high position to succeed with men. I'll always say, it's the parents that make a woman wife material, not the girl herself. The girl just has to play by the ear and listen to her parents. Going wayward might take you out of your targeted zone.

There is a class component to what he is saying, and that inevitably rubs people the wrong way. A sizeable portion of college-educated Black women are what author Alfred Lubrano calls class straddlers--meaning they are first generation college educated or white-collar class--and there is generally social/cultural capital that they don't pick up. This often leads to Black women class straddlers to be incompatible with Black high value men, whether that HVM is a class straddler himself or is a 2nd/3rd generation HVM.

But Black male class straddlers generally have it easier in the dating/marriage market even if in some cases they have it harder inside the workplace.

I think the concept of class straddlers need to be talked about more.
That's why so many of these sistas (who fit that class straddler description, first or second gen in their family to graduate from college) got these incredible lists of demands or only seem to care about "leveling up" than actually being a loving supportive partner to a brotha. Along with media influence.
