To even compare Dirk to KG is hilarious. KG had trash talent around him outside of his first 2 years with Marbury and the 2 years with Sam Cassell and Sprewell. And to be honest that wasn't even that great

Dirk on the other hand been on talented teams and faulted under pressure. 2007 losing to a bottom seed Golden State Warriors and in 2006 losing to the Heat when the Mavs were the favorite in the Finals

And I'm a fan of Dirk, love his game. But had to call out these hilarious takes
Dirks team post Nash were basically Melo on the Nuggets before Billups and AI, good role players and B+ fringe all star 2nd option, but let’s not act like Dirk had stacked teams his whole career

Dirk beat super teams en route to winning a ring

KG had to run and form a super team to win a ring

One guy could carry and win Finals MVP. The other watched Paul Piece get busy and close when it mattered.

Incredible defensive player but spent his entire career in the West getting absolutely molested by Shaq, Duncan, and Dirk.

Sorry with Boston's history, retiring KG's jersey seems like some rookie Miami Heat shyt.
He will never be a Celtic, he is a Timberwolf, he came to the Celtics on some mercenary shyt.
Same way I don't look at Wilt as a Laker, he played for them and got them over the hump, but he is primarily a 76er and Warrior IMHO.

C's fans love KG's lunch pail mentality. Embraced him from the very first game. It's the same reason why majority of Cs fans love Smart even with all the dumb shyt he does.

I understand why people like him, but to me it doesn't feel right retiring his jersey and putting him up there as a CELTICS great.
I mean the fact that his jersey was retired by Boston first is shameful, with regard to Minnesota and that team/org, but thats where he was great.

It's what KG wanted.

The other option was for KG not to have a number retired at all.

If you compare his numbers and longevity with other Cs greats in totality I can see what your're saying. But if you compare his impact on the franchise, one could say it was comparable with other great Cs. Celtics was irrelevant for 2 decades before he arrived. He won a chip his first year, and every year thereafter the expectations were championship. Before KG, the Cs were probably 4th behind the Pats, Sox, and Bs in the area. When he joined, the Cs were again on par with the with the Pats and Sox. That sentiment towards the team has carried over to the current team where the fans expect a championship team. KG coming to Boston was the lynchpin that changed all of that.

I don't know why the Timberwolves haven't retired his number :yeshrug:

I like how you ignored my post. The wolves were irrelevant with KG. KG didnt make the C’s relevant. nikka couldnt do anything on the Wolves but you’re in here like he single-handedly won the celtics a ring. You’re a clown.

:stopitslime: And nobody in here cares about Irk. Again, just cacs trying to take away from a black man being honored by mentioning the inferior white man.

Notice how no Celtics/KG fans were in Dirk's retirement thread talking shyt? While yall are in here desperately trying to get us to acknowledge your white hero on a night that has nothing to do with him. That is a textbook example of inferiority complex. If you truly thought he was better yall wouldn't be trying to desperately convince everybody (including yourselves) in threads that don't got shyt to do with him
