I always give anything spidey a try and a fair shot cause I'm an addict, but that show just doesn't work for me on any level. I'd watch spider man and his amazing friends before that show
That was a good ass show, even though it was old and corny, I loved it as a kid

This is a good move.

Show is one of my favorite cartoons. They were just having fun out there. That's the first version of Spider-Man I was first familiar with. Started reading the comics was like :what: "Why isn't he hanging out with Iceman and Firestar?" We need that U.S. DVD/Blu-ray release. Netflix had the series for streaming a few years ago though.

I knew Miles Morales being in the MCU was too good to come true. We're lucky enough to get Black Panther and a good Falcon on screen. But man, this was the perfect opportunity to put Miles on screen.

There was only a slight chance of Miles. I have some hope that Marvel will at least give him an animated series(or a live action tv show?) down the line. The character is becoming too popular.

and, yeah we are fortunate for BP. It's my no.1 most anticipated MCU film right now. I really hope they do him justice.

This news excites me....i was all set after TASM2 (although I loved the Goblin) now that Spidey is back home, ima let them cook with these high school archs/story's....only problem I see with them going that route is casting...casting teens I'd assume can be a bytch...

I'm pretty :manny: about every aspect of the MCU Spidey until we see some footage. I don't have a problem with the high school thing really, since it adds a new dynamic to the MCU. They don't have any teenage characters yet.

is anyone really surprised?...did people really think they'd introduce their cash cow as anyone other than peter parker?....lol i hope not....that doesn't mean that later they might kill him and introduce miles or another spidey, but the first time out, it was gonna be peter...it was always gonna be peter....

"In Spider-Man’s very specific case, where there have been two retellings of that origin in the last whatever it’s been – [thirteen] years – for us we are going to take it for granted that people know that, and the specifics, Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, told CraveOnline in a one-on-one interview at today’s junket for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“It will not be an origin story, Feige continued. “But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet, he said, laughing.

So does does this mean Kevin Feige thinks the previous Spider-Man adapted certain aspects of the character correctly?

“Yeah. Sure, I think they did a lot of things really, really right. In particular the look of Spider-Man, and the emotion of Spider-Man, and the women in his life. I think there are a lot of things they haven’t done, which is A) his interactions with other heroes in the universe, because that was not possible, and also exploring more the notion, as the comics did for many, many years, as Ultimate Spider-Man did for ten years, [of] a much younger version of Spider-Man than we’ve seen in the movies. [The previous films] get him in and out of high school really fast.”

“And also the notion that he is very, very funny and very, very witty when he’s in that costume, swinging around,Kevin Feige added. “Not as a standup comedian, obviously, but as almost his nervous energy, bothering the criminals with banter as much as with his powers. That’s something that I think we’re excited to explore.”

When asked about whether his compliments about “the look of Spider-Man” meant he favored any of the earlier iterations of the superhero’s costume, Kevin Feige responded, “Well, yeah, I mean look, I was more involved in the Raimi ones, and think they did a very good job. But that being said, we’ve already designed the costume, which is different than any of the ones that have come before. And yet ours is classic Spidey, as I think you’ll see.”

Kevin Feige was also quick to point out that although the announcement of a Marvel Studios Spider-Man movie came after the official announcement of Marvel’s Phase Three films, it was a part of their plan all along. He just couldn’t officially announce it until the deal was set.

“Spider-Man we knew about when we were doing that announcement in October. It could have gone either way, and Marvel as you well know doesn’t announce announce anything officially until it’s set in stone. So we went forward with that Plan A in October, with the Plan B being, if it were to happen with Sony, how it would all shift, Feige told us, adding, “We’ve been thinking about it as long as we’ve been thinking about Phase Three.”

Or you could just introduce him as spider man already without going back to an origin. It's kinda simple breh there's no need to overthink it. He's in high school and he's already spider man. Done deal. Spectacular did that beautifully. When the show started he'd spent a summer being spider man and was headed into his junior year of high school. They didn't dwell on it they just set the show off

As much as marvel says they like legacy characters I think that's lip service. Miles popularity may be rising but it's still not more than Peter and that will always be the problem. We'll see how they use them both in the same universe now after secret wars.

It's kind of an easy fix.
Peter = Spider-Man, Miles = Scarlet Spider
Problem solved

I know Marc Webb wanted to use him but obviously that won't happen now. I think there may be a fear of him just being too goofy. But I'm sure the right writer and director can make it work.

Speaking of which, watching daredevil has made it clear to me that drew Goddard should be the man to write and direct this flick.
He was writing and directing the Sinister Six for Sony before the joint deal I'm pretty sure he's the frontrunner since he's already worked with both Sony and Marvel. IIRC he was the frontrunner according to some rumors a couple of months back. He'd be a great choice IMO and think that's who they want.
