I don't understand how endorsements work. I mean from a consumer standpoint. If I see KD wearing UA, I'm not thinking "UA must be good because KD wears it." I'm thinking "KD wears UA because they pay that nikka $30 mil a year."

Kids however will buy them just cause KD has them.
But more than that, it's just to make the brand visible, if kids keep on seeing the shoes without even knowing where they saw them and on, this will lead to sales.
And really if he wears them, it's not only cause he gets $30 mil, but they are probably good does as well, I doubt that cats giving out these type of deals make wack shoes for bballers to flop in.

A respectable opinion, but I'll still take the foam/AF1 over the LBJ4/6 all day. It's probably brand loyalty like you said coupled with the fact that I refuse to wear brons, but I respect that opinion. But you also forgot the Kobe 4/5 being some of the coldest shoes out and the Kobe 8 was being successfully sold for 2 years.
