This has probably been discussed somewhere in this mammoth thread, but someone quote me and tell me why the "record streaming numbers" for this joint when it first dropped only equated to 38k SPS :dahell:

Am I missing something here?

so i actually tried again sooner than i thought and i kinda figured out why i don't like it. two things. the u/alright/for sale sequence i don't like the performance on all three.

but more importantly, it's the fact that this album seems too focused on being clever for the sake of being clever. yes, it is a clever and intricate album. yes the whole poem that builds up, the multiple concepts, etc, etc. but just because a song/album is clever and intricate and mulch-layered in it's meanings, doesn't automatically make it dope. just like just because a song/album is simple doesn't make it wack. i'm not against intricate but i don't put it above vibes. the way the sound makes me feel is the most important thing to me in music and the extra (concepts, etc) can add to me. but the feeling is most important. this album makes me feel irritated. and i loved OD, S80, GKMC too. maybe i'll love the next one...

I think you're feelings are the general consensus of this album. The 1st half of this album is just flat out bad and weirded out. The second half sounds good but overall Kendrick tried to do something different and it ended up not working sort of like "Yeezus"

How did you determine that is the general consensus?

Nah. Being clever just to be clever suggests a lack of purpose. All of the songs and metaphors are moving in one direction for sure.

Separate yourself from the hype breh. It's just a record, it shouldn't irritate anyone. :ld:

This song is not being listened to outside of the Kendrick Fanbase, Thats what I mean by general Consensus. There are not people that never gave fukk about Kendrick music fukking with this album.

Its the total opposite of the effect GKMC had.
:what:

I put people that didn't even listen to Kendrick on the album by telling them that it had George Clinton, Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway on it.

You mean the people YOU know aren't messing with it. Outside of that there's really no way to know what the "general consensus" is. Reviews don't count either.

Just to add this album sold more than GKMC first week. It was released a few weeks ago, second week numbers are still good so that would mean people are checking for it, listening to it.
