Also, kind of strange how often he references Hov on here. That's the last person I thought Kendrick would be influenced by.

Agree 100%. Like I said before the ONLY reason I give the Grammy's any validity is because, not unlike the Oscars, they DO play a role in the level of "prestige" and push an artist gets and they are looked at, be this right or wrong, as "experts" of the different musical genres. I want to see the RIGHT artists with the truly deserving projects be rewarded as a testament to true excellence within the culture.

And I hate to be "that" guy but the the lack quality and pride in our own awards shows and ceremonies doesn't help. I remember when the BET awards and even the Hip Hop awards could be looked at as something positive that awarded different artists over a multitude of varied genres. There was a time when we really truly anticipated these ceremonies as a showing of black excellence, the quality seems to have taken a DRASTIC dive for the worse however with these shows to the point where I feel it diluted what should be the counter to the Grammy foolishness. Many of our biggest black entertainers no longer even show up to accept their awards

Blame it on the rise of the one hit wonders in the mainstream. It is pretty damn sad that black folk don't want to support a black show, but be all up in the camera in a mainstream one.

2015 gonna be a good year

Yeah, 2015 marks the time when people are fed up with garbage and making albums and songs that they WANT to make.

Wowweee. 2015 is already looking to be the best year in hip-hop since maybe 06, maybe even 03. I think this album is step under the Lupe album but it doesn't matter Kendrick took his time and put out his magnum opus. I really liked his first album and he has avoided the sophomore slump. He is truly shown to be one of the great artists of his generation and I look forward to hearing his work in the future. I always liked the kid, but he has improved so much. His songwriting is excellent. He is definitely at the forefront of the new age Native Tongues movement.

2015 is looking almost as good as 2002.

It feels good to really say "wow" at multiple points throughout albums again. This and T&Y give me the same feeling I get when listening to some of my all time favorite albums. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is just on a completely different level. Add the talent of the emcee and it all comes together to make something really special. When's the last time you really felt an album had no skippables? I can't speak for y'all, but for me it's been a good minute. Every song on this album is genuinely top notch. What's the worst record? King Kunta? King Kunta would be the very best songs on MANY rappers projects. King Kunta is a great record.

We are entering a phase where the cream is really going to rise to the top and a lot of previous comparisons are going to seem laughable looking back. Keep in mind there were people truly asking who is better between Kdot and Drake. That was really a question brehs.

Low Key, a lot of club rappers who listened to K-Dot new album are like :sadcam: because they have to step their game up.

I was hoping the next single would be alright, although in all honesty, I'm dying to see a video for blacker the berry

Alright is looking like the next single after Kunta, he performed it on that truck concert thing he did a couple days back

Also, kind of strange how often he references Hov on here. That's the last person I thought Kendrick would be influenced by.

There were a lot of Hov references/influence in his early mixtapes, I think he even said something like "I always wanted to rap like Jay-Z, til I found out that Jay wasn't me"

lets talk about the production on wesleys theory. i can listen to the music on there forever. the beat is constantly changing and evolving, adding different sounds and shyt. i just described it in the most basic way ever but that beat damn.:whew: might be the best produced track i heard in a minute. the shyt moves fast and is never off balance. shyt like a porsche driving at full velocity yet never losing traction as it turns corners suddenly. damn i just tried some music crit lingo but this album inspired me to try:to:
That's unapologetic P Funk breh

Hopefully makes them step their black pride game up to. Poisoning the soul of your people for riches has always been foul.

This may have already been mentioned, but I chopped it up with my homie last night and he pointed out to me:

At the end of every song he added a line from the poem that's on Mortal Man
:mindblown:
I gotta listen to the whole album again now and peep that
