A Pound & A Prayer
I don’t usually like talking in hyperbole but I’ve seen enough for me to say that Kendrick might be one of GOATs when it comes to rapping conceptually. Listened to this three times now and it get better with each listen.
A Marvin Gaye sample! Anybody who calls that lazy or a cheat code is a simpleton. The fact that his team could secure that demonstrates the caliber of artist he is.
He rapped from the perspective of people who made us defend our culture right or wrong.
How could anybody claiming to be a Nip fan not listen to that 3rd verse and not feel like those could have been Nip's words?
You know you've unlocked a level of greatness when people are tripping over themselves to downplay your music.
we knowI do this for my culture,
to let ‘em know..
What a nikka look like,
when a nikka in a roaster

To let y'all know..
what a nikka look like,

Kendrick Lamar (The Heart pt 5, 2022)
Kendrick has surpassed Nas and Jay
more classics than anyone in rap
Incredible song from one of the goats
compare this to the nonsense empty dribble we get from Future, Drake, Gunna, Lil Baby etc
