His flow sounds off and unpolished, but the beat and message are so fire that you're forced to overlook that. Too many dudes rap just for the sake of rapping and gaining fame, Kendrick loves this shyt, man. I appreciate him for having the conviction to stand on the throne and make uplifting music despite the powers that be likely insisting he do just the opposite.
The most reasonable post in many pages...
K.Dot is consistent with the content behind his lyrics. Always spreading messages that 98% of emcees are afraid to speak on, let alone record on a microphone.
Thundercat doing what he do, straight ill production. That outro was pretty sick too, next track sounds like its gonna be an album gem...but...
His flow is definitely off, his voice even seems raspier than usual. I was never a fan of his barely articulate yelling/rapping voice either...
I think its a valid claim if people don't find it pleasant for the ears. But sometimes musicians ain't trying to make it easy for you to listen to,
some days they
might just want to kill someone.
Two sides of the coin here.
I
fuck with Kendrick, I have so much faith in him to take this genre far, but after one listen (I know, i'll do it justice tonight) it felt
pretty forced to me...
First verse attacking white people, second verse on how society damages and conditions black folk, third verse on the self hate of black community...
Felt like high school all over again brehs. The song he performed on Colbert was FAR better than this track. He was straight up
STYLING on that record.
His voice, lyric wise, AND musically...with a message! Classic performance.
The production behind the instrumental is sick, but I don't necessarily
fuck with the beat...it was cool, nothing too special.
Actually, it sounds a bit influenced by Joey's B4.DA.$$...but I don't think stans want to hear that. Some dudes can't be critical at all with him...
just gobbling up anything he releases. Chill out.
Anyways, I know, TL:DR, just my take on it.
