When did Kendrick kill somebody? And when did he admit this?
I'm out this thread. Peace y'allplz dnt
plz
U mean that song that was soo vague and general?
Thatsong??
Plz stop it
Stop tryna put Cole on Kdot's level pls
Look you the comment section and you'll see cacs forming a klans meeting. Saying how blacks should stop whining.k.
virtually all rappers are c00ns in some way. they know that whites are the ones who buy music and go to concerts. if you think they don't say and do certain things to appeal to white sensibilities, then you're delusional.
I like Kendrick as well. GKMC is a classic to me, but I have to call it as I see it. I'm glad he is spittin what he feels, but some of the things he been saying lately have been like the shyt Steven A Smith have been saying. You can be critical of how some in the Black Community live and act but don't mix it in conversations about Trayvon Martin, because they are two different issues. As far as the mainstream goes J Cole makes more thought provoking songs, even though I think Kendrick is a better lyricist.
What's thought provoking about this song? It was a great performance, but it wasn't thought provoking at all where people sat around and talked about it. I honestly thought Cole's album would be much harder than what it was. I thought he was going to channel some of the heat that Kendrick was dropping in the 1st 2 verses of this song he just dropped. But nope... same ol safe ass songs from J. Cole for another entire album.
Kendrick's 3 songs that he's put out so far has garnered more hiphop discussion than Cole's entire album already.
Which songs from Cole are you talking about though?I wouldn't go as far as to say J. Cole makes more thought provoking songs, but he executes them in a better fashion than Kendrick. In Kendrick's earlier works he had some very complex conscious rhymes.
Look man, if you do not understand why in the 21st century, with the most educated generation of African-Americans ever that is just starting to finally comprehend the insidious nature of respectability politics and deflections why many people would take it that way then you are far removed from what has been brewing on college campuses the past 10 years. At no point in my post did I say what he did or did not say. I went out of my way to say I am not evaluating that. I am talking about how it will be perceived, and that it was poorly worded. No one said shyt about Jay Z and Kanye's "Murder to Excellence" because they never put to topics like this next to each other. There's a difference between Jay Z saying, "Too many enemy shots (cops) to be catching friendlies (black people)," and Kendrick's comment which leaves lesser wiggle room. I'm not saying that is what he meant, I said people are bothered by the fact that we live in a climate where statements like his have been used against AA interests for decades. I am one of the people who defended him when he made his billboard statements because I just felt he did not know any better. But I understand how people are going to take it after what he said before. People in 2015 have grown tired of "what about black on black crime" it is what it is. We're not even arguing with each other. You're talking about what he said, I'm talking about how it will be perceived.Again I don't see him comparing anything. He's simply stating facts: why am I upset at one but not the other. He's not saying they're the same he's not saying one is worse than the other he's asking a simple question to himself and the listener. Now if you or anyone else wants to see it as a comparison then that's a personal thing and also worthy of a discussion but to me, that's not what I got out of it. I think there's a knee jerk reaction to put that on him or anyone saying that but I don't see the analogy nor do I get that from the song.
And he's not the first black person to ask that question of themselves or of us as a people
Song isn't about the fukking "lifestyle" it's a bout black skin you simple ass nikka but you know what, carry on I'm done with you nikkas in The Booth
Yep, nothing thought provoking about that song and nobody talked about it.What's thought provoking about this song? he's rightCut this shyt out, you're better than this
At least one person got took the hint from Yeezus and realized that Reggae and Hip Hop on a track together almost always delivers without fail
Hopefully this becomes a placeholder in the genre, fukk your trap beat. Give me that real. Kanye gonna switch the culture up for a third time
Ehhh....u forgot some lyrics breh. A pretty sizeable chunkhe's right
Pls tell me whats so ground breaking bout this
And I'm in denial
And it don't take no x-ray to see right through my smile
I know, I'd be on the go
And it ain't no drink out there that can numb my soul
No, no
All we want to do is take the chains off
All we want to do is break the chains off
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is take the chains off
All we want to do is break the chains off
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is be free
Can you tell me why every time I step outside
I see my nikkas die,
Ooh, I'm letting you know
That it ain't no gun they make that can kill my soul
Oh, no
All we want to do is take the chains off
All we want to do is take the chains off
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is take the chains off
All we want to do is break the chains off
All we want to do is be free
All we want to do is be free
Are we all alone fighting on our own
Please give me a chance
I don't wanna dance
Something's got me down
I will stand my ground,
Don't just stand around
Don't just stand around
