So…rumor has it that Megan is gonna be featured on the first single.

Makes sense. Her and Normani seem close af and the latter was just in that Keem/Kendrick video and the former was name dropped.

The thing is Megan has the kind of pedigree where she can bring pure bars and if she steps up while Kendrick is Kendrick, that song has the potential to be an all-timer. If they pull it off that'd generate some insane hype to the album as hyped as it already is.

It’ll do more than 350K first week. I’d put money on at LEAST 500k and it could go all the way up to 700K if he’s got DAMN like singles to proceed it.

Cole did 300k first week last year with no big single or video. Kendrick is more popular than Cole is.

Kanye did 309K with Donda after all those listening sessions and hype but the album was a disjointed mess. Kendrick is more popular and relevant musically than current day Kanye West.

The key is he needs a BIG single on Humble levels and a great video. Interscope’s marketing will surely take care of everything else as I cannot fathom him not being EVERYWHERE after the 5 year hiatus.

Kendrick’s last album Damn outsold Ye, Jesus Is King, AND Donda. It also had bigger first week sales

To Pimp A Butterfly to date has outsold Ye, Jesus Is King, AND Donda. It also had bigger first week sales.

Good Kid M.a.a.d City has to date accumulatively outsold Ye, Jesus Is King AND Donda.

Where precisely is the lie?

Man, I just slid through Spotify and DONDA has more streams than TPAB which came out in 2015. :yeshrug: I'm a Kendrick fan, but he doesn't put out enough music to be more "relevant" than someone like Ye. He's not particularly innovative and he isn't ushering in some new generation of artists taking over the industry. He's just the current era "thinking man's" mainstream rapper. But his music isn't really moving people like that and you know it. We just appreciate the quality of the music and the lyricism-- but he's always lacked that extra something that the real icons have.

I get what you both are saying.

Kanye is a worldwide household name as off 2022. But it has more to do with his ventures outside of music. Kendrick would never be as popular as Kanye simply because kendrick isn’t as in the public eye as Ye

musically kendrick will sell more. Kanye been in the game for 20 years. Kendrick is in his prime years Ye isn’t anymore

but touring is a different story

thoughts? We got a preview of this with blacker the berry and wesleys theory

This would be great..

I always wondered why more people don't sample reggae...

Just look at Bam and Lucifer by Jay - z...

both are classic tracks that are reggae influenced but still very much hip hop
