Still don't understand how anyone can dislike Section 80. The production was dope and Kendrick killed damn near every track.

ADHD, Rigamortis, Ronald Regean Era, fukk Your Ethnicity, Kiesha Song, Hii Power, Poe Man Dreams, Spiteful Chant...like damn those songs were crafted to perfection.

Yuh, Sec80 is a personal classic. I still listen to it to this day like it just dropped.

I think another thing about this album is that while the storytelling is exceptional, there's no  moment where Kendrick overwhelms you with his rapping ability... it's missing that wow factor

like the first time I heard Rigamortis, I remember literally saying out loud to myself, "oh shyt" and ran it back right away... same with Ignorance Is Bliss... this album is lacking that

Suburban kids? No. I mean technically Compton is a suburb of Los Angeles but there isnt a single person who calls it the burbs. Muhfukkas are desperate to say anything about these guys right now, its fukking corny. I don't get why people can't just say 'i dont fukk with their music' instead of doing the industry plant, they are suburban kids, bs. Q and Jay Rock claim a set and you don't get to fake claim sets out here period.

Jay Rock is from the Nickerson Gardens Projects probably the most notorious projects in Los Angeles. They built a fence around the projects to keep people in, instead of out, that should pretty much sum it up. It use to look like a prison for real. School Boy Q is not a 'suburban kid' either. Ab Soul I dunno much about to be honest.

Kendrick Lamar is not a gang banger, never was, just a regular LA kid who happened to grow up in a bad area hence the whole fukking concept of the album  People get confused because out in California the style is that jeans and t-shirt or surfer/skater type, no one is running around in khaki suits with flags in their back pocket like its the 90s. Been off that forever now.
My point isn't that they didn't grow up in rough areas, it's that usually if people are gangbanging it's because they have to not because it's the cool thing to do. Like i said it may just be west coast swag but listening to these dudes reminds me of the suburban black dudes, that acted "gangster" cause the rappers did. If you even HAVE a mothers van to ride around in you shouldn't be riding on nikkas. And you mentioned jay rock having real steet cred, honestly jay rock is the only one that doesn't come off as a corny fake "gangsta" maybe because he isn't :manny:

I mean I don't know these guys child hoods from birth but there is nothing sweet, soft, anything about Nickerson Gardens or Compton especially in the late 80s and 90s.

People get it twisted when they see a van pulling up to a house with a lil grass in the front and think 'damn that aint like the ghettos in my area and they have a car AND a house???' but there are decent homes in REALLY REALLY bad areas out here and you can't get around with a car really. We don't have good public transit like that. And the style of dress is like i said jeans and ts or you get that hoodie skater style, which you probably saw of Schoolboy Q, but I can tell you he aint a suburban kid. You can't claim out here for fun or to be cool, people do get checked. They take gang banging VERY serious out here.

I can see what you are saying/coming from but I can assure you those guys are not suburban kids. Culture is just different.

@ the bolded, that's kinda my point. It seems like these dudes are out here gangbanging just to hold on to the culture not out of necessity and I can't respect that.

Huh? Majority of nikkas banging is of their own free will. What you mean by have to? The ganglife is appealing to young hood nikkas for a variety of reasons. shyt aint forced slavery, unless you got ignorant fam in the gang raising you.

Nobody with good sense should. But that aint the way it is. Where you grow up homey? Some of most infamous killas & hustlas from my neighborhood came from relatively stable 2 parent households. Just like it's kids from the worst of households being able to avoid the bs and stay on the right path to suceed in the world.

People are individuals and will make the choices they make. Often times your friends and what they think can have a bigger sway on a nikka than his parents or good common sense.

Depending where you live out here it is a necessity. You also got to understand that its kinda passed down to these kids by their parents and brothers. You can go back a few generations where guys fathers and uncles were in the gang and they just sorta came up in it. Not because they 'need' to but because that is all they know.

It is their own free will, but it is one of their only choices. They don't have any other social or economic opportunities. They are starving, fighting over scraps. Obviously Kendrick and his hommies didn't fit into this mold yet they still turned to gang bangin.

I'm from Cleveland and the dudes out killing and robbing, didn't come from wholesome families. They didn't have working parents, they were born into the trap, they didn't go to school, they didn't have mommas vans to ride around in.

Your correct people do make their own choices which is why I can't respect a person that CHOOSES to gangbang when he had other opportunities available. You think all the west coast gangsters these dudes emulate came from happy two parent homes?
