I didnt like the overall sound of this project. It felt lazy. I didnt have any expectations coming in to this project. I wasnt impressed witrh Humble. When i heard the heart pt 4 I thought he was gonna do something innovative. Im just not feeling this album. I wish the rumors were true about him dropping something else.

You dudes live in alternate universe

Not saying it's classic or trash cause Kenny is one of those artist where I give the hype time to settle and give a true listen. Like some of what I heard, other stuff sounds kinda meh. The only serious gripe I got is this joint is missing Terrace Martin. He brought cohesion to TPAB, it flowed. Not feeling that so far with this

This is album like the movie Drive to me. It just achieves a certain pace/quality at the outset and maintains it the whole time without rushing or slowing down much. There's no standout rewind 10 times track but otoh each track/scene/shot has at least one part I don't want to skip. It's basically just one long addictive song to me that manages to keep my interest. Haven't been this interested in an album since T&Y even tho there's individual songs better from other shyt than anything on each of them. But as an hour of music as an album for album lovers? :banderas:

It's no really about not liking them... It's just some tracks I can see myself skipping to get to others.

Some songs are good, but not must listens, ya dig?
Yeah I can see that. This is one of the first Kendrick projects where I can see myself skipping around more than the others. The songs can be played as stand alone tracks whereas on GKMC I felt obligated to play the whole album for the story.

yeah I can see that, did you like Section.80? Neither are connected as tight as GKMC and TPAB, but still great imo.

I actually don't mind the Rihanna track, I honestly expected a lot worse, I wasn't big on Humble when the video dropped but it grew on me, I really don't like Love or God tho..I'm fukking with 11/13 tracks so I can't complain, I'm still playing this shyt like crazy.
I bumped Section 80 when it dropped. My list is

TPAB
Section 80
GKMC

Section 80 doesnt connect from track to track but it has an overall feel to it. The vibe and energy is melodic laid back and eclectic. That old TDE sound that the whole Black Hippy crew was running with. My best TDE album is Ab-Souls Control System. As far as Damn goes. I just expect more from Kendrick. I dont want another TPAB just something innovative. He was carving his own niche with Soundwave, Robert Glasper, Terrance Martin and Thundercat etc. That jazz fusion, Nu-Soul, Experimental shyt. He has something of that here but its regressed to strip down trap beats with a more mainstream sound. Reminds me of how Lupe put out Drogas Light. Just the compete opposite of Tetsuo & Youth. Hopefully on Drogas he gets back to his thought provoking/hidden meaning shyt.
