Breh, You're not a writer.

If you were, (which you're not) you'd understand and agree with what I'm saying. The level of writing is the one thing that seperates Kendrick and Drake. Even before the ghostwriting.

Like I said before, Drake whether it's because he's a former actor or because it's real, can tap into that conviction in a quick second. Listening to more life you can tell. Songs like Lose You, or Do Not Disturb. It sounds like he's talking about something, until you look at the lyrics. And it's still the same shyt. Nothing real. All superficial. All frivolous and all on the surface.

And that's what keeps him from taking that next level. He don't got shyt to write about. He's created a character that he has to stick to sell, and I respect that, but that character has limits.

The only reason I think he's going to drop a classic is because he's talented enough to do it. But the Kendrick v Drake ship sailed a long time ago. It's not close and it'll never be again.

You're getting mad at Drake for creating a PERSONA but big upping Kendrick....a rapper who literally creates and disposes of hollow characters to convey undercooked messages?

I was with you untill you said that. I nearly died a heart attack.

Bruh go back and listen to the OJays and them nikkas. Drake can't fukking sing. He a flat one trick pony vocally. He got no range at all.
I was talking as far as rap goes. Not all time across any genre

And stagnated since GKMC same way Drake has stagnated since Take Care
This post is woefully incorrect. He transcended rap music with tpab and tpab is one of the greatest albums of all time. Possibly top 5 ever across all genres. I've listened to plenty of music to make such a statement.

Kendrick is above his peers because he takes the most risks with his music. And even while doing that... he still keeps his swagger intact. So yeah it's got a different influence on the record, but ultimately, it's Kendrick's take on it.

This album really is a mixture of all of his previous works/sounds.

You can hear some of everything in this album, and then he gives us some new songs from him that we're not used to hearing from him. I don't think he missed on any of them honestly. It's a real balanced album.

You can literally section off the songs on here and put them in his previous album categories.

Section.80 type vibes:
GKMC type vibes:
TPAB type vibes:
Untitled Unmastered vibes:
New Damn vibes:

I don't feel like going and listing everything but you get the point.

All rappers have personas.

Drake's just has limits. That's all.

best review is from dj booth

DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! I’m at a complete and utter lost for words.

Did Kendrick just pull the plot twist of the year? How can I think about the entire album after that grand finale? My mind has been bent, twisted, and completed loss by all this album has thrown at me.

There were only a few moments where my jaw wasn’t ajar, mesmerizing in a way that GKMC and TPAB aren’t. This is the feeling Kanye gave me so many years ago, how each album was a surprise. You could never tell his next move. Kendrick’s in that class of unpredictable artistry. It’s scary to think he’s getting better, improving on his strengths.

Kendrick doesn’t make albums, he makes experiences. Each one will touch a different emotion, pull on a different heartstring. DAMN. is indeed the title because, by the end of the 14 songs, damn is the only word on your lips.

Kendrick is one of the few artists who make a 1-Listen review difficult because one isn’t enough. If I had to compare his music to an art form, I would choose cinema. Just like seeing a fascinating movie, your eyes aren’t able to capture all the beauty and nuances in one viewing. The first watch will blow you away to the point that you must see it again and that’s Kendrick. Hell, even twice might not be enough.

I’m still trying to fathom how the album begins with his death and ends with the story of how his father and Top Dawg knew each other as youngsters. Can you imagine the odds? That there was a moment in history where Top Dawg and Kendrick Lamar’s lives crossed? Destiny is a strong word, but I’d be damned if the Gods don’t have a sense of humor.

I have to listen again, we should all listen again. And again.

Kendrick delivered. He gave us a rap album unlike anything he’s ever created and unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. By now this is what we should expect from the King. He is a king and the crown on his head is immovable.

Bullshyt. This ain't even touching Oxymoron let alone Habit & Contradictions and Blankface.
H&C is the only one that can hang with this, and that might be better. Oxymoron and Blankface are in the same mold as this, or DAMN is in the same mold as them, but there isn't enough stand out material on either one to hang with DAMN, because Kendrick has that extra attention to detail and skill.

But the lyrics are actually good though :mjlol:

Na actually what I heard on those specific songs, lyrics included, sounds drake-esque to the point where I had to hold up what I was doing to actually listen and make sure he didn't sneak in a feature. Kendrick always had bars but to say the resemblance isn't uncanny is top tier stan talk

This our current era goat mc y'all..on the same level as the 6 fraud:huhldup:

Who'd have thought?
