Whats ur opinion on this kendrick album my man? I think I love it as much as tpab
I'm loving it a great deal.

I like how he's tackling death, fate, duality and the perception of himself and his artwork..
He gives you two paths through the album but ultimately they all lead to the same place.

XXX is a perfect example of how he has to deal with the contradiction that he'd be willing
to ride if someone in his family were to be hurt but he also believes in gun control.
Or how he deals with Fate on the song DUCKWORTH. and how decisions can totally change everything like when (who I'm assuming is...) Top Dog meets "Ducky" (Kendrick's father).

I think what I like about GKMC, TPAB and now DAMN. is dude continually tries to reconcile
reality and his religious beliefs.

Just a couple of my thoughts on the album after a night of listening.

I'm gonna keep it real..

This is one of the most varied, musically adventuring (psychedelic soul from the 60s, etc) albums I have heard in hip hop...and everything was well executed

How does he do that, dude knows music better than some already established goat musicians :picard:
Kendrick is going down as the best to ever do it. No rapper apart from kanye is a creative as kendrick. If we are getting that second album on sunday and its better than damn and tpab i am ready to call kendrick the best of all time.

rest of the album is on point :whew:

Bullshyt. This ain't even touching Oxymoron let alone Habit & Contradictions and Blankface.
you're right, this is 100 times better than all of Q albums combined, objectively speaking.

Kendrick's best album, and probably the best album of the 2010s, any genre.

Breh, you can't see me on analyzing any type of writing.

The most important question is the function of rap. I know most of you have never thought about that in-depth.
Breh, You're not a writer.

If you were, (which you're not) you'd understand and agree with what I'm saying. The level of writing is the one thing that seperates Kendrick and Drake. Even before the ghostwriting.

Like I said before, Drake whether it's because he's a former actor or because it's real, can tap into that conviction in a quick second. Listening to more life you can tell. Songs like Lose You, or Do Not Disturb. It sounds like he's talking about something, until you look at the lyrics. And it's still the same shyt. Nothing real. All superficial. All frivolous and all on the surface.

And that's what keeps him from taking that next level. He don't got shyt to write about. He's created a character that he has to stick to sell, and I respect that, but that character has limits.

The only reason I think he's going to drop a classic is because he's talented enough to do it. But the Kendrick v Drake ship sailed a long time ago. It's not close and it'll never be again.

You don't know enough about writing for me to even break it down for you.

All I can say is you have to know how to seperate vocal ability from the writing.

Drake could make a song about his love of Reuben sandwiches and the tones in his voice will make it sound like it has depth and conviction. But the content isn't there because even though he says it well, he isn't saying anything.

He's very good at that.

But as far as the writing goes, it's a landslide for Kendrick. Not close. Won't ever be.

Drake is vocally speaking, one of the greats to ever do it.
I was with you until you said that. I nearly died a heart attack.

Bruh go back and listen to the OJays and them nikkas. Drake can't fukking sing. He a flat one trick pony vocally. He got no range at all.
