For example :

A thug changes, and love changes, and best friends become strangers;

I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of Death;

When I was 12 I went to hell for snuffin' Jesus

Doesn't have to some long-ass sentences, in the words of The Genius, "Make it brief son, half-short, twice strong"
None of those are profound...those are truths common to all...that Jesus line is jis some other nonsense. ..

Again I see nothing profound here in comparison to things kendrick has said

Never heard 2nd childhood, right?

"So he moves with his peers, different blocks, different years
Sitting on, different benches like it's musical chairs"

"They call her the brain surgeon"

"Selfish in her own right for life."

2nd childhood is a great example because it's everything people say Kendrick does, but actually good. It's not a "quotables" song but it still has memorable lines (forgot the comicview) one.

Either way, lol at nas not saying anything profound.

You newbies :scust:
Again nothing in those lines are profound..those are just lines that sound good . Those lines relay no profound message unless ur a Lil boy that knows nothing about life yet

Your taste then. I personnaly see nothing at all that is profound in what Kendrick says, except for that moonwalking line. Most of his track are story-telling, but he's not that good at painting a picture either, Nas and others do that better too. And they don't need those wack voices effects either :yeshrug:

You're telling me you don't find 2nd childhood profound?

OK. Why? Tell me why those lines are average/not profound?

Lmao Kendrick has never created a landmark flow EVER.! what flow does he have that the whole country was singing word for word Ala NOTORIOUS THUGS, started from the bottom, MASE ON 112 only you? He has zero
Notorious thugs wasn't a landmark flow. That was a wack version of bones flow.

Mase typically uses a 10 syllable per bar format which is very simple and easy to follow

Kendrick uses a lot of words high syllable counts and metaphors that require thinking so his bars aren't usually sung along like that in comparison to simple minded lyricists like mase and notorious big.

Kendrick has a unique ability kinda like Ludacris did of being able to bring a unique approach flow wise to fit different moods or concepts. Kendrick stands out in this way because no matter what the beat sounds like he can ride and flow on beat which can breath life into a lackluster sounding track

Here are 2 great examples. the beat for buried alive us something a lot of rappers would Struggle to make flow but Kendrick did it. Drake could have never rapped over that.

catch a fade is also an unorthodox production that Kendrick shined on in comparison to the other people on the song.

Landmark flows are easiest to follow and sing along with when rappers use the most simplistic words possible.

The problem with these threads is your minds already made up on Kendrick. Even if people post lyrics that stick with them, you'll discard them to prove your agenda. Youre coming from a place of trying to win instead of trying to understand. I've been on Internet a long time. I've seen this thread before.

Still think he sucks. Mostly cuz of his voice

His lyrics are meh. Hard for me to take ppl seriously saying he's a great lyricist when ka's last album had a dozen verses better than Kendricks best that I've heard

Ka sounds like he's on anti-depressants.

I never did nothing but break the ground on top of the asphalt
Tire mark gave you evidence that I'm easily peddling with the speed
Of a lightning bolt,
as a kid I killed two adults, I'm too advanced
I lived my 20's at two years old, the wiser man
Truth be told, I'm like '87
Wicked as 80 reverends in a pool of fire with devils holding hands
From the distance, don't know which one is a Christian... damn
