Because we're talking about lyricism. You said how can you be a lyricist with no stand out lines....by writing dope songs.
Punchlines are apart of rap music but to say that one can't submit a verse or a song as impressive display of lyricism shows that you have an agenda when it comes the artist in question.
Smokey Robinson is fukking irrelevant when it comes to this "hip hop" question. And the fact that you reached quick for someone outside the genre makes me question your judgement.
That'd be like me bringing up Cher or some shyt when asked something hip hop related. FOH
and I'm only saying that you cant quote verses because muhfukkas on here are on some cut-and-paste shyt. They'll post a verse/song and run. Which is a waste of my time. They won't provide any insight because they have none (yet pretend to be smart as hell)
Nas is arguably the best storyteller this genre has ever seen and he got quotable lines. TONS of them. You can take individual lines out of his numerous tracks and they all hit hard. All the greatest rappers that are lauded for saying impressive shyt have quotables galore.
But yet Kendrick can't be "reduced" to lines? Like
Who do you think you're fooling.
"brilliant" songs > "brillant" lines.
Again, NOT the point of this thread.
This thread is about one thing and one thing only: "Kendrick has never said anything impressive."
I'm not saying he doesn't make good music. or that the overall package isn't appealing.
Stick to the thread topic please or we end up dancing in circles.
Because you reduced money trees to "ya bish" and exposed exactly what it is you're looking for
You don't really care about dope lines or lyrics...you're the same idiot that said
lyricism killed Hip Hop
You highlighted that because that's the kind of bullshyt you gravitate toward. Slogans, hashtags, and shyt that's easy to repeat and remember...simplton shyt. Gonna be hard for people to find what you're looking for in Kendricks music.
"Lyricism" as it's defined today absolutely killed hip hop. Because y'all wouldn't know a great line if it smacked you in the face.
Being a lyricist is about poetry. Having something to say in an imaginative, vivid way.
Now being a lyricist is about irrelevant technical stuff and dull meaningless bars. Of course that shyt killed hip hop.
Any more mental gymnastics?
