Kendrick Lamar is a concept rapper that uses metaphors. He paints a picture with words. Not so much crazy punchlines, entendre's or ironic word play.

He can take an idea, make it about something and make it come to life.

Let's be clear on what you're saying:

"Kendrick does not say anything impressive but the pictures he paints are impressive."

Correct?

The flows he uses, the metaphors he uses his ability to encapsulate a theme into a rhyme combined with his rhyme structure/patterns are his biggest strengths.

A yes/no answer would have been great.

Take away all the technical shyt: does Kendrick say anything impressive? Yes or no?

If yes, receipts please

Irrelevant. I can get into that later in this thread when the subject has been exhausted. Right now I wanna hear these amazing Kendrick lines.

You want lines when he's not a punchline rapper.

I see you've addressed that, yet you're still asking people to not submit whole verses or songs as if it's a bad thing that you can't pluck a line or two from verses or songs that can't be broken down in bits and pieces.

That actually speaks to his skill more than it does to whatever the fukk it is you're trying to say. And i'm not even huge Kendrick fan like that.

When I was ten, back when nine ounces had got you ten
And nine times out of ten, nikkas don't pay attention
And when there's tension in the air nines come with extensions

Look at me, look at me, I’m a loser, I’m a winner
I’m good, I’m bad, I’m a Christian, I’m a sinner
I’m humble, I’m loud, I’m righteous, I’m a killer
What I’m doing, I’m saying that I’m human

And I'm not sure why I'm infatuated with death,My imagination is surely an aggravation of threats
That can come about, ’cause the tongue is mighty powerful
And I can name a list of your favorites that probably vouch, Maybe cause I'm a dreamer and sleep is the cousin of death
Really stuck in the scheme of wonderin' when I'mma rest.

As the record spinning, you was hearing angels entertain, Every pun intended, that was wicked, coming from your brain
Recognize you listened and you didn't hit the block again, That's because the minute after you had knew you would be slain
Open up another chapter in the book and read 'gain , Story of a gun-clapper really tryna make a change.

This shyt make a nikka just wanna write
Reminisce when I had the morning appetite
Apple Jacks and after that I hit the TV Guide
Animaniac the only thing that gave me peace of mind
I’m a maniac when aiming at the enemy that lied
Tell a story that I'll never grow to 25
Not to worry, every warrior will come and see euphoria
And that's a covenant I put on every tribe

my favorite rappers are ones who can paint a picture with their words, which is what nikkas like Kendrick, Big KRIT and Jay Electronica among other greats have down to a science damn near. that aspect really separates rap from like all other music genres.

It IS a bad thing! It means that nothing the dude says is memorable.

At the end of the day, does Kendrick say memorable/quotable shyt? yes or no? It has nothing to do with punchlines.

If you have no stand out lines, how can you be considered a stand out lyricist?

The most quotable thing Kendrick ever said is "ya bish." Real talk.

Yes he does

She start running like FLo-Jo
Don’t care if they Joe Blow
If they got money to blow a blow job is a sure go
- metaphor for prostitution

and don’t call me lyrical,
‘Cause really I’m just a nikka that’s evil and spiritual.
I know some rappers using big words to make their similes curve,
My simplest shyt be more pivotal.

He makes memorable songs and concepts that are well written. Hes a lyricist. Just not the kind you like.

Well, the kind you pretend you dont like. Clearly your a fan, on the low.

So by this standard, Young Thug would be a better artist than Kendrick?:patrice:
