Can't really compare Missy to Kelly. Kelly came in as part of a group, and was second banana WITHIN that group, and it so happened that the MANAGER of that group was the lead singer's father. I'm not going to exaggerate and say that Beyoncé isn't talented and worked hard to get to her position, but she CERTAINLY had the "push" earlier and with more vigor. Kelly isn't "foul" at all, she's had really good music and albums that didn't get a very push at all

I am having this same argument on FB right now over this article and I am holding the same stance. Then to add fuel to the fire I mentioned BRANDY who is only two years older, came out 2 or 3 years before DC and has had a gang of hits and success on TV, movies etc. Same complexion

There is truth to that.....I feel two ways....Honestly Beyonce is a hardworking woman that did have to work hard to get to where she is at. I do believe that her skin complexion played a role in it too. When Beyonce was in destiny child she was definitely black, but when she went Solo and came out with more hits people started calling her mixed, biracial, creole, and everything but black. Hell when she was pregnant people were actually out here thinking her child would come out looking like Mariah Carey's kids and surprised to see a black baby with kinky hair.

Now as for Kelly I believe that she doesn't have the right team behind her and she is not as motivated to be on that superstar level.

This is my main argument. I don't believe her complexion is the issue. Its her music. I hated Dilemma but her biggest solo outing was a hook. Her joint "Kisses Down Low" was alright but she needs consistent hits. I honestly think what fukked up her momentum was her first solo album. Beyonce went Pop, Michelle went Gospel, that left the pure R&B or even Neo Soul lane open for Kelly and plus that was the lane most DC fans were. She should've released a straight R&B album and even if it wasn't that good it would've catered to her base instead she went the Euro pop, dance synth route and that was a dagger. The fan base she made it for didn't really fukk with it and she alienated her core fans. Since then she's been trying to win them back but she fukked up her momentum.

It's the truth. She's always been my favorite member since I was a child so I kept a close eye on her activities.
She's just as good, if not better than Beyonce but she can't meet the same success because the rest of the world's mind is polluted with thinking lighter is better. So fukking sad man.

Beyonce was a thick yellowbone with a pretty face, and a quasi-Diana Ross voice, in other words a unicorn. Honestly Beyonce to me is the best pop singer in the current era, and probably the best since Mariah Carey. Adele is Adele in terms of records sales but I have to be biased cause there are hella bishes who can sing like her but don't get that push because of their color/background. Kelly Rowland is your run of the mill black songstress. In the music world she's a dime a dozen. If you got a million dollars you invest in Beyonce, she looks black and latina at the same time, plus has that exotic look that can crossover to white people. Kelly Rowland was never an Aretha Franklin/Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey type of singer, so she was never gonna do that kind of numbers on her own. She didn't win the genetic lottery physically nor vocally, she should be happy with her career, she could have easily been a Brandy
