The quicker the black community admits this is a issue, the quicker we can come to a solution with this form of discrimination

Serious question when is the LAST time a second banana in a group was able to have a TRULY mainstream breakaway? Only one I can think of off top is Bobby Brown
But with New Edition tho, EVERYBODY in that group had main stream success on their own.

nikkas about to run up in here and overhype her like they do in every thread.

Though there's some truth to it, but let's be honest.. she'd never be able to fill Beyonce's shoes. The charisma, talent, sex appeal, looks...

nikkas wanna act like the prince came to the crib rockin a footlocker jersery with a chariot full of glass slippers in different sizes :camby:

Agreed.

I mean look at it this way. Solange isn't a superstar either. If it was just skin tone that held Kelly back and the fact Mr. Knowles chose his daughter over Kelly what happened to Solange?

She's light skinned too?

Sometimes charisma just wins out.

I like Kelly's music but I'm not as interested in her as I am Beyonce.

It absolutely is an obstacle, but tbh, though I found her the finest member of DC, her solo work just isn't that great. She has a platform that many black girls would KILL
for but she just doesn't have the kinda talent to blow like that. I've heard quite a bit of her music, but its fukked that the only song I can remember of hers is the one
with Nelly. She is pretty forgettable as an artist.

Who is fault is that though?
and why do you mean by fame
Aloe Black type fame or do you mean mainstream

Amerie wasn't dark, she was talented, she ain't make it big

melanie fiona ain't even reach Fantasia level of popularity, yet she ain't dark and she's attractive as well as talented

and what do you classify as dark, Mary J Blige complexion or Inda Arie

blaming shyt on dark skin is the disease, this why of thinking comes from within first before anything outside

I can't name a famous singer period that's black

black music use to be put out by black producers

where's the next quincy jones

when have you seen a talent like michael jackson, hell there ain't even a new version of R. Kelly if we just want to talk about talent

kelly rowland was an average artist she was a tag along for beyonce since they were children, this is like one the nsync cacs wondering why they not as big as justin timberlake when they was never the main artist ever

she feels its her dark skin because she has always hated her skin, and been under beyonce's shadow who is light

she had a better career than solange who's light skinned lol

The thing is black producers are not putting out artist anymore, that's just what is, waiting on some jew to do it's not going to work

All of what you said!

Lord Kelly needs to sit down. She has success enough, just not superstardom that I guess she's envious of and that has nothing to do with her skin tone.

She's playing on the insecurities of other dark skinned women by pointing out an age old rivalry between the light skinned chick, Beyonce and her the dark skinned one.

Any woman with a light skinned nemesis is feeling her pain.

I'm so glad I'm not either light or dark. I'm a perfect Sanaa Lathan, lol, thank God!
