There is some youth, though I agree with you.
But I don’t think the Spurs are willing to significantly improve a conference rival to do it.

You could make the most logical argument for a trade of stars between the Red Sox and Yankees but you know it’ll never happen.
I'm looking down the league and I'm trying to think of better trade partners for the Spurs than LA considering what they'd be willing to offer.

Milwaukee? They have Middleton in the last year of his deal and...Thon Maker? Jabari Parker in a sign and trade? Just don't see it there.

Would be awesome to see Brow and Kawhi on the same team, but NO doesn't have much to offer either.

Miami could offer Winslow, Bam and Josh Richardson. Is that enough?

Most of the teams in the East have so many terrible contracts. :picard:

Because you have 2019 and beyond tickets to sell. Every time a star player demands out you always get the spiteful takes from the fans and that's difference between a fan and a multi million dollar organization.

"Let's hold onto him and let him walk for nothing" is going to look dope putting up 0 pts ppg and leading a rebuild or you take all you can get which is going to be Ingram and change and have a future you can sell to the fans. No team has let their star player leave for nothing that could avoid it and no team ever well.

And a Kawhi trade with LA is happening btw.
I would counter to say that by that logic any organization could be sabotaged/hamstrung by any player simply demanding a trade.

“I don’t wanna be here”
“Well we have to trade him now or we get nothing”

That’s a poor way to run an organization.

Edit - I would also say that the NBA needs a mechanism where teams get some level of compensation for outgoing top free agents the way MLB does with their draft. Not necessarily the same system, but something to mitigate the issue.

If I’m the spurs and I see lakers pop up on my caller ID.

I just say give us ball, ingram and kuzma and hang up.

Since the Spurs know the lakers are feeling pressure to get Kawhi, I’m swinging for the fences by asking for all 3. If not I trade him to the sixers for saric, fultz and future picks

Kawhi’s definitely pulling some hoe shyt but it’s the Spurs so fukk it:yeshrug:. fukk them and their bytch ass fan base.

Also it’s funny Spurs fans on here were constantly saying no one wanted to play for the Lakers, those days were over. Yet their franchise player might’ve possibly quit on his team to come here lol. It must be heartbreaking after all that time they spent defending him and riding for him.

I hope they enjoyed those years Duncan have them cause it’s probably back to the Admiral years or even better the Iceman years. Being consistently good but not good enough.

And I bet the Lakers win another title before them. The Lakers have won through too many different eras and players while San Antonio only won during the Duncan era.

I’m short Duncan was an all time great player, personally in my top 5 and I liked Gervin but that’s where it stops.

fukk the Spurs
Slap yourself fakkit. He said la. It just happens that the Lakers are in that city. Let's not forget he was ok with the clippers too .it's not the team/framcfran it's the city. Don't get it twisted .

Could happen to any team that much is true. It's a different era, the players run the league now.

Been that way since July 2010.

Under no circumstances are the Spurs going to want the circus that comes with Lonzo Ball.

Is that a bad thing :patrice:, i personally like players taking free agency seriously. Nothing is really guaranteed. Lebron paved the way. People gon be mad fucc em, get money and try to win championships :yeshrug:

I completely agree with you. But the point is to raid as much of lakers talent as possible.

Get lonzo and then flip him to the kings or some shytty team where you have a chance of getting a top pick the following season.

Plus you don’t wanna trade Kawhi to the lakers for draft picks. Lakers with lebron and kawhi and possibly PG, means those picks are gonna be in the 27-30 range. I’d rather raid their talent than picks

Kawhi hates the Spurs :picard:

He doesnt even care about the extra $80 million :picard:

Except for the part where his camp spent the whole season saying he would only sign for the supermax...

Then after the meeting with Pop all of a sudden "he didn't care about the money" :mjlol:

Probably cause Pop told him they weren't offering him the super max:mjlol:

Same way he was "almost 100 %"

Then the lakers said they had concerns about signing kawhi and would need to know he is healthy...

Then all of a sudden he is "100% healthy"

Or remember these articles from early june popping up everywhere...

Kawhi Leonard Rumors: Spurs Star Expects to Sign Contract Extension

That was before the meeting with Pop...when they thought Pop was going to come in groveling and begging Kawhi to stay...so they started putting it out there it was all cool and it was getting patched up and he going to stay...

Then Pop probably told them if you want the super max you got to show us you still healthy and you not some hoe ass puppet who can't say a word unless your uncle has his hand up your ass...and then bounced...

Not that they know that super max aint coming it's "trade me" and "I don't care about the money" and "i was betrayed cause grown ass men asked me questions about an injury i might or might not have"...

I hope magic can go ahead and get us that Miami unprotected 1st round pick...somehow get another bad teams 1st round unprotected pick...give us hart kuzma and ingram...so we can be done with this

There’s nothing wrong with players exercising their rights to sign with whatever team they choose.

I think some of us disagree with where they decide to go (Lebron to Miami, Durant to Golden State), but not with the right to do so.

Lakers fans wildin'.We just saw CP3 and Harden push GSW to the absolute brink and would've won w/o injury.

Kawhi and Lebron would have a real shot at them
