schumer comments are nothingburger (the real kind)...people are being silly making it to be a big deal. first of all chances are that even if dems win senate there's still going to be a republican president. thus the 60 votes requirement is really just a way to keep the seat open. will also let red state dems vote for a less rabid version of kavanaugh while still allowing the Dems to block a nominee (assuming they retain party discipline). furthermore dem presidents never nominate fire breathing liberals for supreme court - they always get 60+ votes anyways.

Reid didn't get rid of the 60 vote requirement for supreme Court picks. He did for lower courts and executive appointments which numbers in the hundreds to thousands and was deadlocked by Republicans constantly blocking nominations at every turn. It one thing to obstruct one supreme Court Justice. Its another when you have hundreds of smaller position constantly being blocked and a bunch of vacancies as a result.

How is it that Democrats will suffer for not pushing the Senate limit up to 60, but the very Republicans that moved it down to 51 will win re-election?
It's like you guys hear "red state Democrat" and just inverse the laws of physics off GP. Not a single person heading to the polls this fall is going to vote against the Democrat who isn't in favor of a 60 vote Senate majority. If that were the case not a single republican would get re-elected.
