The reality of the world that we live in these days is that it is very easy to disrupt anything with an army of bots that stir up the pot and get people on the fence to choose a side and/or embolden those that are already firmly decided. I suspect that's why you see those types of swings...

Flake is a retiring senator that can deliver the Supreme Court majority to his party for the next 30 years easily. No way in hell he goes against that.
