You think KAT is gonna be a lesser scoring option than Mikal Bridges or OG? :dwillhuh:

I mean I get your sentiment about having to do less but I’m not sure if that applies here
yea homie bugging. KAT is the clear #2 on this team. Mikal nor OG are big offensive players.
Losing Divencenzo hurts too.

Dudes talking like this the same 26ppg KAT. He averaged 22 last year and 21 the year before as the wolves have gotten better (19 in the playoffs). Still the same level of talent, just didn’t need to do as much. Now he’s on an even more talented team. Brunson controls the ball he gone get his all the same. Bigs sacrifice most scoring-wise in situations like this. If you want precedent:

Porzingis went from 23ppg the year before to 20
Kevin Love went from 26 to 16
Bosh went from 24 to 19
KG went from 22 to 19

With KAT if you take that 21/22 and factor in that same type of sacrifice yes I can see him averaging 18 and Bridges the same. And I’m only using “option” for a more casual/lay explanation :hhh: If they’re smart they will not have any type of pecking order after Brunson and they won’t approach this as ‘Brunson and Katt’s team’. That’s not who he is and this roster is the perfect place for him not to force that

Everyone acknowledges KAT is the better player but were not talking about a top 10 player here....I think KAT gives you alot of Randle esque problems in big games, thats a fair point.
But getting a top-10 player isn't realistic for the Knicks.

This is legitimately the best roster that they can get, which is why focusing on what KAT can't do is rather futile because it's not like another move would've been better. I don't think he presents the same problems either because Randle would've taken away from Brunson, OG and Mikal, and fundamentally changed the identity of their offense. Now the offense (and team) will be about Brunson, with the other three sidekicks supplementing that, and you're not going to have someone trying to hijack the offense or putting up shots that aren't within the flow of it.

KAT's shooting and floor spacing at the 5 is going to be game-changing for a team that didn't have it before. He's gonna pull out all those big men from the paint and allow everyone else to go to work -- even when he isn't showing up. If nothing else his ability to be a distraction and magnet for defensive big men out on the perimeter is infinitely more valuable than whatever Randle provided them with.

It's pretty damn unfathomable how the Knicks managed to pull all these moves off. It's pretty damn close to the best team they've ever had.

Neither Randle or KAT show up in big games so that’s basically a wash :skip:

Losing DiVincenzo definitely weakens their bench, I viewed him as a 6MOY favorite
After he (highly) performed how he did last season, which was basically plugging into the starting 5 due to injuries, he would have easily been a candidate this season. Not happy with this

The reason they traded for Rudy was because he didnt defend and was soft at the 5

I’m guessing they’re gonna rely on Anunoby to defend the rim. He did play okayish defense on Embiid when called upon during their series, not something I think you can rely upon throughout the season though

Yea idk where this pecking order shyt is coming from and it must be from folks that don’t even watch the team.

The only real topic of convo was when Randle was there but he’s gone now. Kat, OG & Mikal all have reserved personalities and they cool with not being the first option.

Not sure how I feel about this. I’ll reserve judgement for now but I’ll definitely miss Donte.

Yeah I think he got underrated somehow. Bench guy who can shoot the three, pesky defender on a superb contract… he’ll be missed. They’ve got McBride and Hart to fill his minutes but you’ve gotta give to get
