Some artists approach albums with various mind states. This album was made as an experience. That's why the rollout was the way it was.
It's like a blockbuster movie. The director is making it with the big screen in mind. The score, the vfx, the color grading etc... It's all being put together with the intent of maximizing the viewer's experience in a movie theater.
With DONDA, it's like everything was composed as a singular experience that was meant to feel live with others energy also being a part of the listening experience. I'm sure this album hits 10x harder for those who went to a listening session that he had because the music will take them back to the moments that they first heard it live.
The downside tho, is that the vast majority of us didn't go to the listening event so the music isn't going to translate for us the same.
