I've been a part of different venues in the tech world. It looks like "anyone can create something" and make it, but it's very closed. To get the funding you need to really grow fast and compete is near impossible as a black tech entrepreneur.

it's all in the manufacturing. screw the design aspects at this point, kanye has to link up with a few BLACK multi millionaires and build their own plant; which would open doors for black designers / investors. problem is nobody wants to do the hard ground work necessary to truly compete with the people who are shutting blacks out.
Kanye Kardashian is too worried about offending white people to do this.

When you hit that glass ceiling brehs.....Ye is getting the education he should have got in college before he dropped out. Dude is not understanding one of the most fundamental rules of America. It's not what you know...It's who you know. Good luck to Ye, I just hope he doesn't blow something up in the process of learning.

He will get investors and accomplish his goals because he has that IT factor and finds creative ways to get you into his world. That article is just hating because that's what people like to hear. They did the same thing with spike lee and he met his goal ,and some more, on kickstarter.

this is a pretty broad generalization. care to provide some detail? i agree it can be hard for VC partners to look at a black entrepreneur the same way they would a white one, but are you implying malignant 'cism or what?

Why would Eric Schmidt invest in a fashion brand anyway?

Silicon Valley VCs aren't into stuff like music and fashion etc... there's not enough ability to scale it up

Then again, Jeff Bezos just invested in a newspaper, so :yeshrug:

these dudes just don't have the heart to tell him that he plays with the drum machine and they invent it. And he'll never realize that himself.

the comparison between this cooked faced lame and de vinci sums up what he is trying to say.

It's funny how delusional Kanye is though. The n!gga really thought screaming at Eric Schmidt on stage was going to galvanize some sort of movement in his favor.:heh:

What is Kanye's plan though? It still isn't clear what he is pitching. Ok he wants to start a "creative agency", but what kind? Is it going to be digital advertising, an agency like Steve Stoute's Translation, or something else? You can't sell someone on oh I want to make a trillion dollar business. He might want to go to Europe or Asia to look for investors. Some of them might be more willing to assist him just to get some type of foothold in the US. His problem is he wants the money to come from certain people when at the end of the day, money is money.

i'm not saying that he's going about this the right way but there is no reason for him to limit himself. despite the theatrics, kanye had excelled at many things, why shouldn't he go for something that he isn't already good at? though he can't articulate it or find investors today, i have a feeling that DONDA could very well be the next big thing. failure or success, if kanye doesn't pursue this, hiphop will die.*

*edit: or someone like him.

Not surprised to find libertarians in here saying he should use his own money.

How stupid are you people?

Ive been involved too and i agree. Its the new old boys network. tech is prob the most racist industry outside of construction. Nobody can even name 1 prominent black entreprenuer in silicon valley. Thats cuz they dont exist by design.VC's aint giving black folks money period.

i made a thread about one black VC, and there are a few others, but overall its zero for all intents and purposes

Lady Gaga Splits From Manager And Rising Tech Investor Troy Carter

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/lady...-and-rising-tech-investor-troy-carter.161472/

i think its both racism and black people themselves and there isnt really any black people in (the physical) silicon valley to begin with and there are very few black people at the university level

i think if there were a lot of black people being discriminated against in silicon valley that would actually be a step forward because it would mean there are actually black people in silicon valley

Most indian cats have to partner with white boys to get their foot in the door. I've been to events and no one took me serious until I started making the rounds with an Asian friend I made there. It was ridiculous. There was a show called "Black in Tech America" on CNN that followed black entrepreneurs in Silicon and eventually most of them had to relocate due to blatant racism. I'm talking sundown town cops called on them for being in the neighborhood they lived racism.

The positive is that there are some less racist whites in the South ironically. Because they aren't apart of that network, they are willing to take a chance on a black entrepreneur's idea. The only problem is they have significantly less money than Paul Graham, Google Ventures, etc. I've taken some meetings though, I could probably raise around $1-1.5 if I needed too down South but it would be TOUGH.
