My state will not legalize for many years, I flow back and forth between several states and have lived in states where it also illegal to this day, we cant even properly study marijuana due to it's classification, as she mentioned. It is not just A state, its a several state and a federal issue.
marijuana legalization as a federal bill/law will not pass because of republicans

At most a president can do what Obama did and that's to direct DOJ to end private prisons and allow states to legalize marijuana. But that's a democratic platform period that would not change because of who is nominated.

I strongly feel that if you want a super black woke politician, you can only get it on a local level and it would make more sense for it to be on a local level because those people are the ones who truly have a direct impact on your life.
Centrists love trotting out this line whenever the left critiques the center, but also are the first ones to say we need to get Trump out of the paint at all costs, progressive politics be damned.

Im not a centrist and I would actually prefer a more progressive candidate but im also realistic about said person being able to win. We're talking about a person who has to win more than your state. That have to appeal to all non-Republicans. Are you implying its easier to vote in progessive president than it is to vote in a progessive mayor and/or city officials?

I'm implying that pleas start getting copped whenever we question why centrist Democrats don't fight for progressive politics. We start getting told to look elsewhere for help and chastised for criticizing those operating that lever of power. It's a self-defeating attitude to assume progressive politics can't win at the national level. It's a hollow belief, unsupported by evidence. There are millions more non-Republicans sympathetic to progressive politics than turned off by them. The idea of America as a centrist nation or the mythical all-powerful centrist independent is a conservative con job that purposely kneecaps any leftist progression. Progressive policies are incredibly popular, it's the mainstream power brokers who lack the will to enact them. The masses have to reassert their power.

why not? I am not in a legalized state, it is extremely upsetting that black and brown men get harrassed and arrested for marjuana to this day and got criminal records because of marijuana. You're in cali, marijauna legalization may not be a major issue to you cause its legal for yall lol.

There are still going to have criminal records. Instead of DWI (alcohol), it'll be something like DWH (driving while high) or something similar to public intoxication. There's already a small cottage industry developing instruments for law enforcement to do real-time testing for marijuana. I get paid to do a lot of studies. I don't smoke, but one of my homeys does. I hooked him up and got him paid to test a handheld tool that can calculate THC content down to the nanogram in your saliva. It gave a reading in less than one minute and was accurate in saying when he last smoked within a 15-minute window.

I didnt necessarily say look elsewhere. Im just big on local elections and know first hand how important and impactful they are. I would bet you'd have a better outcome and it would be easy to get a progressive candidate, locally. Young activist are more involved on a local level. They have been shown to be very effective here in Chicago. You have a better chance getting a local progressive candidate because the voters they need to appeal to are centralized. They are focusing on their ward, which could be a couple thousand people. A mayor might have a city of 2 million people to appeal to, Governor, same thing. This is opposed to a Presidential candidate trying to appeal to millions of voters across 50 states, all with different positions they have to try and cater to.

The problem is people who are actual republicans, idiot.

The only reason you have centrists in the first place is because of districts with un-safe seats.

Before like 2014, there was no real criminal justice reform push.

And a lot of prosecutors didn't really have leeway like that on sentencing.

I think you forget how conservative the country is, or you're just not listening to people when they vote.

This ain't Scandinavia.
