It's funny that people are trying to make this about her lying about what music she was listening to, for cool points, and not her posture towards marijuana before a last year (we're only in February) despite claiming to have used it herself.

We could also talk about how she's using a stereotype about Jamaicans, which is problematic, but since the former is above the discourse I don't see the point.

Reposting some thoughts I have on Kamala:

One thing that has been bouncing around in my head is how the public has become accustomed to judging actions taken 5-10 years ago with morality formed in 2019.

I think it is frustrating because Kamala Harris was more progressive than most AGs in the country 5-10 years ago and has only gotten more progressive since then:

Back in the day, she made decisions that are viewed more harshly in 2019 but I think it is ironic that she isn't given the opportunity to progress like the average American has. The average American was against Same Sex Marriage and Marijuana Legalization 5-10 years ago but side-eye Kamala for enforcing policies that were supported at the time. It is Hillary Clinton-esque imo

i think a calling card of being progressive is being ahead of the curve, her actions didn't even align with progressive views of the time, especially in CA. if you're talking same sex marriage and marijuana legalization (your two examples) then you need to take into account progressive leaders and the liberal public were for those things and much further ahead of the rest of the country in CA. it would be one thing if she was from a more centrist to conservative state to b behind in hindsight, but she's from a state that usually out in front

She is in front of a state that is out in front. I think that is the part that isn't getting across. I don't think you looked at the link I provided. Here it is again and here is the description of how they determine Progressive Score:

The “%” and “Rating” columns underneath the “Progressive Score vs. State Tilt” are two different ways of measuring the same thing. They both measure how naughty or nice a member of Congress' voting record has been relative to how hospitable his/her state is to a moderate to liberal Democrat. We're grading on a curve. An A in the “Rating” column indicates members of Congress who are doing the best in terms of voting MORE progressively than could necessarily be expected given their states. Those with an F rating are performing the worst in relation to their states.

She is #3 in the country. I don't think that you are taking into account that she is progressive even for California. Bernie Sanders ranks 10th.


Additionally, in terms of being progressive and ahead of the curve, it doesn't get more progressive than "first of its kind"

While I don't favor Harris as the Dem nominee and would favor Bernie if he was running. I still am a fan of Barbara Lee and she is free to endorse whoever she feels. It's an endorsement, it really doesn't mean that much.
