She's married to a white guy, this line of attack is dead man. You have to go with something else.
TBH, it what it is. :ld: She wasn't married until 3 years ago...slim pickings at that age, level of success and matching all that to men who'll jump the broom quickly. In our entire history we've only had two unmarried presidents. She had to get married to further her political career (i.e. be a viable candidate for Pres). Cory Booker, gets tons of questions for not being married, if he runs, it'll be an issue. Not as big an issue as it is for a female candidate, but it will give folks pause.

You're confident that Obama's VP will take back the states that were lost as a backlash to the perceived effects of Obama's presidency?

I think you're assuming too much. Not only will a lot of disgruntled rust belt voters say that they don't want more of the same establishment that created their problems in the first place, but black, young, and liberal voters could all have minimal energy for Biden too and stay home in droves.

If you're going to go with an old White guy, Bernie's got a working class background, is popular in the rust belt, doesn't have problematic ties to the previous status quo, and actually energizes a lot of voters who otherwise wouldn't get out there to vote.
but does bernie energize older, centrist voters? it's a catch 22, people want to act like the young and liberal can carry the election when if more "conservative" older independent voters stay home or vote republican or centrists dems stay home...you've netted nothing. black folks may not be energized by either - bernie couldn't win us in 2016, biden may actually have more leverage simply due to obama.

people overlook how wide the net is that the democratic coalition covers, you truly have to let the base select the candidate because it's easy to miss on mobilizing large swaths of the base. if you go too far in any direction

But older centrist voters don't stay home. They're the most reliable voting block out there. They're a given no matter who the candidate is. It's Black, Latino, young, liberal, and non-party voters who are an actual threat to stay home.

This whole "large swaths of the base won't be mobilized if you go too far" claim hasn't been shown in any election. What was the race where a passionate Democratic candidate lost because the base stayed home?

No, old people are the most reliable. Folks 35-55 can easily be mobilized or dissuaded.

I don’t think you can fairly assess today’s political climate against the past. Especially the way special interest/“cultural” causes have become big in the Democratic Party. Like it or not, some of those social issues the dems have to take on turn off some of the more conservative base. Lastly the last big rift the dems had in the party led to a splintering, civil rights era “progressives” vs “southern dems”. That could easily happen again.

Again, this is my take based on the wide ranging platforms I read. A lot of Wall Street dems and older folks are looking for people like Biden, Harris, booker, gillibrand...then you have young starry eyed fired up folks looking at sanders and warren...then of course “heartland real Americans”. I feel like the Democratic Party could be teetering on another splinter, it’s not unheard of.

If you feel you are a part of a large voting block who aren't being represented the only logical solution is to run yourself.

It worked for AOC.
