I've come to the conclusion that the music industry chooses the types of people you listed so they can remain the moguls and the rappers can keep dying slow. Every single artist you named has a street background so it's understandable that they act that way when they get a little fame and money. Surely the industry has known this for some time.

Here's where you fukked up at though. -
J is a snake who was willing to betray Red, Meth, Beans and DMX to get where he's at. He was probably plotting on their downfall the entire time. It's not because he was smarter or worked harder or because he wasn't sleeping with Foxy when she was a minor. It's because Dame put him in a position of power and he screwed him over and climbed his way higher while standing on others backs.

I'm taking the verse a bit out of context, but Jay did say in a song

"They say a midget standin on the giant's shoulder can see much
further than the giant."

Fact is we all know the industry is a shady business. If Jay played by the rules and acted like he was loyal to all them nikkas he would be broke too. I don't agree with what jay did but I understand. The only way to be successful in this business is to be ruthless. That's why moguls like jay, 50, puffy and russel don't have an army of leeches feeding off them. Mc Hammer did that and we all know how that story ended..

If you wanna point to the movie how high as a reason Red and Meth were very business minded keep in mind that DMX starred in multiple movies and he was a junkie of the lowest regard.

Totally agree. He's nonthreatening in interviews and behind the scenes with his white counterparts. He did an interview with Bill Maher and he came off so heaux like. I was disappointed.

So tell me, based on watching the movie, who do you think was misportrayed? I think everybody on the tour was themselves hence the title backstage. We saw parts of them the public usually wasn't granted access to. We seen that Meth and Red's main focus was getting high. I don't think that is a inaccurate reflection of their interests do you? I say Jay is more keen because he was smart enough to not expose any of his vice's so if he does have any it doesn't fukk up his brand one iota. He can sit next to Warren Buffet because he doesn't give them any reason to not wanna be in a room with him unlike the rest of the nikkas on the tour. So to make a long story short, I don't think there's anybody on this board that wouldn't agree with me when I say Jay is the most keen-focused rapper on the tour. The rest of dem nikkas are simply record label employee's that depended on show money and advances while Jay got a piece of the Nets. What do all those guys have in common? They seemed to be victims of their vices. It's no coincedence that Jay and 50 are more focused because they don't share the same vices as the average rapper.

What I don't get is why rappers wanna be seen on camera smoking so bad? For nikkas to do it in interviews is unprofessional. Some nikkas don't light their blunt until the cameras start rolling. Red and Meth's schtick is they wanna be known for getting high. Jay wants to be known for making moves and money. Which 1 sounds better to yall?

Search my post history both here and on Sohh and i'll guarantee you'll find more resentment from me towards Jay than love. This is the 1st time im giving him this kinda props. It's just obvious he's playing a different game than the average rapper. He was making chess moves when nikkas was playing spoons. Only an idiot would disagree. As stated earlier, if we watched the show The Wire and say Marlo and Bubs had two different agenda's and 1 was smarter than the other I don't think we'd be accused of saying how much we loved Marlo, however if I say DMX and Red and Meth came out of the movie backstage looking like Bubs compared to Jay then why do I get hate for stating the obvious?
