no, there was three loops. if you look at it in order, the "alternate one" was the 1st loop, and it's implied by the 3rd loop that he killed the mother and the rainmaker was born...the 2nd loop, he tried to change it by accepting his fate, because by NOT killing the mother, he believe it would not create the rainmaker, THAT didn't work...it was up until the 3RD TIME the young joe realizes unless he kills himself, this will continue over and over no matter...

I have to watch the movie again, but I may have to dismiss my 3rd loop theory. Reason being that if Old Joe got away, how did Abe deal with Young Joe? I ask that because we saw Old Seth try to run free, and then start losing body parts as he tried to flee because Young Seth was getting cut up?

Young Joe also killed himself cause he knew he was going to die no matter what even if he killed Old Joe from the Mobb Bosses. Young Joe did not know Old Joe killed out all the Loopers. It was the best solution for everyone.

whut happened at the fire escape is purposely left ambiguous, however there's a REASON why joe, whom ORIGINALLY wanted to learn french ends up in china instead and why his boss (who was from the future) KNEW he was going to go to china... it was clear this was done before!
