Just got back, movie was amazing. Top 5 Time Travel Flick instantly. But I had to disagree with some of what people are saying:

The girl on the farm and the prostitute were different people. But the prostitue's son was one of the 3 boys born in the hospital. So No, The Rainmaker was that kid period there were no alternate timelines that make both of the girls the same. But there were 2 timelines presented in the film:

*Timeline 1: Joe kill Old Joe ends the loop. He grows up in China and it just repeats.

*Alternate Timeline: Old Joe flips the script, kills his intruders then goes back in time prepared to escape and kill the Rainmaker as a child.

The Alternate Timeline is the one that movie focus on. But the moral is you can't change the past cause even though Old Joe tries to change the future, the events that make the Rainmaker still happen it just Old Joe is now the cause. The only way for the future to be changed was for Young Joe to close the loop by not killing his future self but his present self. If Young Joe just killed his Old Self, The Rainmaker is still born someway in the future. But by killing himself Old Joe never travels back and the kid gets raised by his mother and doesn't become the rainmaker. By the kid not becoming the rainmaker, he doesn't become the anti-Christ that Bruce painted him as becoming

Movie was sick, one of the better Time Travel films up with "Back To The Future and 12 Monkeys". Action was cool but it was a more character driven piece. I enjoyed it very much.

THIS

The only reason he offered half his silver to the prostitute was because he related her kid's situation to his own and didn't want him to grow up like him (notice he offers the prostitute half his silver AFTER telling her that he can hardly remember his mom's face).

Also:

By young Joe killing himself, he saves his future wife in China also cause he never meets her and she goes on living and not having to save him from his drug addiction. After talking to my brothers about it cause I watched it with them. They were confused why it took so long for Young Joe to figure it out. It was cause by protecting the young rainmaker, he learned that kid did not have an evil heart and something happen along the way that turned him. Once he figures out the boys future is not written but made by his old self, then he made the decision to finally close the loop.

Movie was mad deep.

but those are alternate universes, not just alternative timelines. Basically, there are an infinte amount of loops. Why would the girl on the farm randomly get horny (they showed her on her front porch before JGL showed up smoking a cigarette and it zoomed in on her thigh...then she randomly fukked him out of no where in the same manner)...she also said "I used to work in the city..." they also threw the line in there for JGL "I don't give a damn about you or your kid." How could he have such a conflicting personality, at one point he was all "Let me give you half my silver so you can raise your boy right :steviej:" then "I don't give a fukk about you or your kid"? In the Bruce Willis timeline he killed his own loop, but then the rainmaker sent him back so JGL could kill his own loop? So thats 3 loops there, then someone could send the older JGL back to a younger joe to end that loop. There are an infinite amount of loops.

ALSO, she rubs his hair after he killed himself at the end.. Coincidence that hooker did the same exact thing? No.

I thought the same thing. It's ironic because Old Joe makes it a point to continuously reprimand Young Joe for being a "child" throughout the film when in the end its Young Joe who makes the most selfless decision. Save the kid. Save Sara. Save his (future) wife. All in one decision.

i tried telling dude that lol...

they dont even look the same. one is a stripper/prostitute at the nightclub. the other owns a farm. he's mixed up because they both have a son who could've been The Rainmaker.

YES!!! That was the most ironic thing about the movie.

and yeah, it hit me just now that ol girl in the whores Projects that Old Joe was peeking into was actually the girl Joe was trying to save.

Yea. that was her. the stripper chick he was tryna save had a son who was the same age as the girl at the farm's son. Young Joe wanted to give her his silver to quit stripping & raise her son in a better environment. Old Joe was about to merk her kid in case he was the Rainmaker but, seen through his new memories from Young Joe that the Rainmaker was the son of the Girl at the farm after he went batshyt crazy & killed the dude.

I can see why you feel it was a paradox but hear me out. Old Joe saw her at her house and remembered the prostitute through his younger memories, that's why he hesitated to kill her son cause he remembered he use to f*ck her. Yes the prostitute and girl on the farm has similar tones as far as how they react to Joe but I believe they were different people. As far as her getting horny, she's raising her son on that house in the field. Obviously cause of her son's power she wasn't able to bring a man around the house. She was probably just horny, it was a moment of loneliness. The prostitute didn't even really like Young Joe, it was just a job for her and money for her son. I agree that there were several of possible loops. My point was movie just focused on 2 timelines. Let's say that when Bruce decides to go on his Rainmaker mission that's Timeline 800. Meaning the loop could of went 799 times before Young Joe decided to change it 30 years later. That's why the Director made it a point to show Old Joe getting away and Young Joe killing Old Joe and growing up in China to let us know what the normal loop was and the alternate loop was. It's simular to the film "Deja Vu" with Denzel. He went back so many times until he changed the events.

What I love most about the movie is at 1st your rooting for Young Joe, then your rooting for Old Joe cause of what happen to him in the future. Then You are against the Evil Child, then you want the Child to survive cause now Old Joe is some child killing psycho. The movie really played with your emotions. Also the Trailers are very misleading. They are making it like some action cat and mouse film about Joe trying to find his older self but it was way deeper than that. I'm glad they didn't even mention the Kid in the trailers cause that's what really drove the movie.
