Hate to hear that. But being around whites isn't helpful but there's plenty of folks she shouldn't be around either (although she has no choice). Tell her she has to firewall herself mentality and not to let it slip in (which is a struggle). Certain rap, r&b and dancehall (for example) have been shown to have toxic messages that no impressionable or simple minded person (old or young) should listen to. Add in movies, t.v., social media as well. Thank God I'm :flabbynsick: because when I see these young nikkas walking around I :scust:at being in the "Age of the c00n". You see it, you hear it and you witness it almost nonstop. She has to live, but you have to put her up on as much game as humanly possible. Thankfully, as you said, she's smart so she'll soak up that knowledge. Let her see what the big picture is. There's always been c00ns, buffoons, skin &grinners, shucker& buckers out there but it seems it's saturated these days. They live to spread negativity, envy, hate, jealousy and demoralization. If I could destroy half of these fukks I'd do it with a quickness.

Best piece of advice I can give is to surround her with folks who aren't on that dumb, loser, defeatist bullshyt. They're the worst people to have around. Older people are usually better in that regard because they see it and lived through it. Make certain she's got an outlet so it doesn't infect her as well.

Be her rock, she needs it now more than ever. These years are going to determine her views, beliefs and outlooks for years to come. It's hard to talk to parents about certain stuff, so you gotta be there to talk, listen, guide and console. If not...well you know what will happen.

Awww, I feel so bad for your sis op. Middle school is the worst time of anyone's life. Some of those kids are straight demons, man. shyt, I was one myself. My advice is to get her out of there asap! Cheer her up by taking her to go see a movie, (prehaps Suicide Squad she'll love it), out to a frozen yogurt spot, or just walking outside and talking to her to help clear her mind. Teach her about Black history. Teach her about Malcom x, Martin Luther King, watch Black movies. Cheer her up and stregthen her from the inside out. Sending my love and prayers your sisters way! ♥

Well said sista.

Absolutely right, the music part is fukking with me too because its so true. And yea im definitely trying to be a constant source of positivity for my sister :cape:

I mean.. Hip Hop is our largest medium and how are we portrayed on there? How are our women portrayed? If someone who had never met a black person only listened to hip hop what would they think of them? :snoop:

@PhonZhi i think imma jump on the band wagon :snoop:

Hip Hop was in trouble once gangsta rap showed up tbh, but once rappers figured out c00ning=profit in the early 2000s it was all down hill. Things were accepted that never should have been accepted and now we're dealing with the fall out. Our music (just like everything else we create) was turned into a weapon and used against us.

They're not excuses. You're a black woman you're paired with the most powerless group of men on this earth. We can't protect you. We can't even protect ourselves. We can't provide jobs for ourselves.

1. I wasn't just talking about black men/boys, black women don't really stand up for black girls either.

2. This isn't 1930 where you would get killed for even thinking about standing up for black women. You can protect black women from black men. You can defend our honor against toxic anti-black woman culture. You're not helpless here.
