Now check out their site, gallery and tell me as a black person how you feel about this

:snoop: I'm losing faith.

I saw that Jamaican flag and that homosexual looking white man owning this club. I can't take no more man.

It sounds cliche, but education will be a cornerstone in uplifting the black community. Black men need to pride ourselves more in intellectual pursuits and achievements and less in hypermasculinity.

Asian-Americans have a higher median household income than any other racial group in America.. this coincides directly with their higher levels of academic achievement. Per capita they are more educated than white Americans. Their communities are essentially founded on a desire to pursue education to improve their circumstance (there are other factors involved like immigration rates, family values etc). They understand that the establishment still favors eurocentric ideals, but they've found a way to work within the system by being smarter (Some emigrate to the U.S. already having degrees of course). It's not worth it that a handful of black people achieve success in this way.. individuals don't build communities. There has to be a shift in the psyche that has plagued the black community for so long. Hispanics and blacks have the lowest median household incomes in America and not unexpectedly are the two least educated groups. The correlation is undeniable.

Asian-Americans are the fastest growing demographic in America by the way (comparatively speaking). By 2050 they are projected to make up about 9% of the U.S. population. A population increase with that level of academic attainment.. well we don't need to spell out the implication. Just know that black people need to get It together fast.
one of the best post I have read on here in awhile.

If all what you dumb nikkas is saying is true then we wouldn't be having this thread to begin with...

Yes business is a learned skill, just like football and basketball is a learned skill, but naturally we are more athletic then others hence why more of us excel, and naturally others are better acclimated to having business sense hence why they are excelling.

And to the dumbass talking about Oscars,..i already said we have a natural talent in being entertainment .. but your Oscar argument doesn't answer why Telemundo does better numbers then BET as a network..

And i have cousins from Baltimore the work in major marketing firms.. i not saying no black person can succeed in business... but the numbers do lie in the situation.

We can't even sell our own music.. you all seen that video of Bobby Shmuda jumping around like a monkey on a table... Thats the sad reality..now as soon as you two accept whats real, then we can start to move foward and find solutions to the problem...

Unfortunately too many black people act like you two and act as if there is no problem at all... and its a shame.. we have so much talent that will never be tapped into because of ignorant pride:snoop:

This thread was based on the OPs point of view...a sample size of a specific city to skew things in his favor

We push athletics and entertainment as income ascension vehicles because of lack of knowledge/self esteem.
That's it... you can tell just by the limiting beliefs people are presenting in this thread.

Is there a deep rooted historical connection to systematic oppression ...Yeah sure but so what ?
Why let that stop you from starting/buying a business and making profits hand over fist ?
Why not learn how to market ? how to hire and retain top tier talent ? how to raise capital ?

because it's easier to make excuses than to actually do something about it.

If Patrice Motsepe, Bob Johnson, Magic Johnson, Donahue Peebles, Reginald Lewis and other
black businessmen had this mentality - do you think they would have succeeded ?

So I'm working personal security at club shrine. It's a packed house full of our people, athletes and couple of other hood celebrities paying out the ass for vip and bottle service, pictures of Fela Kuti and other black icons on the walls, etc... Everybody's cool, the women are looking good, nikkas drinking and chilling but here's the catch: The owner is white as rice, there's cac cops outside yelling and talking to people like children, bartenders and management were primarily cac.

Now this isn't a dig to nikkas that want to go kick it and have fun on a Saturday night but how in the entire hell is this even possible? Could we as black people start a white themed bar / club with primarily black staff in a white area and have success? Could whites do the same with Asians or Mexicans and have success? I'm asking seriously because maybe there are other examples of this somewhere where their big spenders are cashing out spots owned by other races. Meanwhile the couple of black owned spots that do try to open up shop are closed because of regular violence or other shyt that causes them to lose their liquor license but at the white mans house we know how to act

Like I said, this isn't a dig to anyone but i see the same shyt with us in our own areas we live in. nikkas will litter and fukk up our own areas but let some blacks go live in some white areas then it's a totally different story.

How can this mentality change and what can be done about it?
Were you at Wild Hare?

Edit: nevermind. I missed the name.

Forgive me if I misread, but I dunno why anyone wants to get into the club/bar scene in a major city like that. A lot of those club/protection rackets are run by organized crime anyway, which has/had run most of the major american cities for more than a century.

You will be accused of preaching respectability politics but you are 100% right.

We need to value ourselves the same way we value others, change how we view us. Self love would do wonders for black establishment. To build businesses we can sustain and support and also live in peace amongst our own.

Being poor does not equal having no class. There def had to be a mental shift. I think it is gradually happening.
great post. For some reason when a black person has the audacity to suggest that change must start with OURSELVES, they're often called a "c00n":francis:. You are 100% right. "Black Pride" is at an all-time low, while "self-hate" is at an all-time high. We need a resurgance of black pride. We need the Black Fist to make a comeback

I agree with bold either that or if you tell them to start improvement on themselves in a financial sense it becomes "bootstrap" talk

Whether they bring their best and brightest or not, they are still coming to America to seek opportunities.. opportunities that could have been better afforded to an African-American with the requisite level of education. The problem is (as I have made mention of already) that by and large African-Americans are the least educated group in America. The system is one that favors a certain ethnic group over then other, but it is still a system that can be maneuvered through if you play the game. Either way you want to look at it, education is still essential.

Now we can delve in to socioeconomic aspects of the discussion where it can be pointed out that schools in black areas are generally inferior to schools in white areas, but that's a separate matter entirely. It's not that black people are necessarily "accepting less", it's that black people have been conditioned to accept the status quo and are under the false assumption that their circumstances cannot change. When you grow up in the 'hood' you are ingrained with a 'hood' mentality which generally rewards hypermasculinity and eschews intellect, where the most respected individuals are the guys that are feared on their blocks or are 'making money' (of course there are many people who have come out of such circumstances, but they are in the minority). There is no reason other than 'mentality' and a lack of a stable household where a child would choose to forego education to commit acts of crime and risk his life in the process. A person that has been taught to pride himself in academia would seldom make such a decision. We need to be better educated, and deeper levels of morality need to be instilled in the younger generations coming up. That begins in black household.. The more you look at it, the more you see that it's a vicious cycle.. one problem is responsible for the other.

Anyway, interesting discussion. :ehh:
Everybody needs to read this post twice

Black business owner checking in. Black customers make up 3-5% of my total revenue. (Iphone Repair Company)
Could be several reasons for this.
Blacks are poorer and can't afford my services
I mainly operate in areas with low black populations
Or Blacks just don't support black businesses
