LMAO!! I had an older lady tell me she was using capital numbers in her password.

Me: capital numbers?

Her: Yea my password has 123 in it and when I press shift 123, it's not working.

Me: Umm well numbers don't have capitals so if you press shift, you'll get the symbols. That's why it's not working.

Just keep in mind who has access to the firewall and all of the organization's data.

Any emails you send or receive, we can check them if we feel like it. Any websites you go to, we know about if we care to. Anything you download, we can track it. Any IMs you send, we can read them. Any info that HR has...your address, SSN, criminal record, etc....it's on a server somewhere and we have access to it if we want. We'd hate to have to block a website you want to go to. Or to be forced to notify your boss about what "non work-related" websites you frequent.

Certs wouldn't give me a pay increase. I'm a java developer. The thing that would get me promoted is to lead projects.

Depending on where you live I may be able to help you.

anyway, get a webservices background. Work on advance projects, etc.

Two things you could do is go the PMP route after leading a project. Also, maybe you should consider transferring to Android Developer.... more jobs for that are opening up and there's always new companies seeking that.

A lot of hate here.
But just because you are in IT and married doesn't mean you are flabby and sick.
Not everyone in IT makes six figures. I've yet to get there. I'm a programmer with a degree and no certifications. I'm not banging women left and right and going off to fancy vacations and driving a fancy car. IT is good work and depending on your company, the IT department is a vital part of the company/organization whether it is computer/software development or other industry where the IT department is a supporting department.

I did a career change and was a cop for a couple of years. I liked the job but the pay sucked. Work conditions varied. I also have had other jobs in the past. So the two good things about IT are 1. pay is good and 2. there are a lot of IT jobs out there, and most cities have IT jobs, but sometimes, you have to move to make it happen.

Engineering is harder and more prestigious than IT but it seems like you guys get paid way more to do fukk all. I definitely picked the wrong major but then again I dont plan on having a "job" much longer.
