His last great season was at 28 and by 31 he was having trash seasons. That’s early. I guess he got started early as well at 19 but he didn’t change his habits until it was too late.

What I’m talking about is well documented

He fell off is radically different from “he didnt care about winning at all.”

I mean I guess, but that’s not early in the grand scheme of things, the average pitcher retires at 31. Most professional athletes don’t get to 10 years in the league.

I doubt deals like this become commonplace(though I think the risk is worth the reward), but this could help see a resurgence in African American players in the sport. The amount of potential 5 tool players opting for football over baseball is insane when you factor in CTE and the lack of comparative financial stability. shyt, how many possible Aaron Judges are warming the bench in the G League right now?

@Remote , they dropped him down to sixth in the lineup. :picard:
A guy can hit .400 for a month so if he gets hot people will forget the slow start.

But we are approaching mid May. I wouldn’t panic but I’d be concerned.

He’s still hitting the ball hard but he’s striking out a lot. I wonder if he’s not picking up the ball well. Maybe a slight stance adjustment could help like it did with Yoshida in Boston.

I haven’t watched any Mariners games this year tho.
