If you are just in court watching a case and aren't involved as a juror or defendant, you can probably sleep as long as it doesn't bother someone or disrupt the proceedings. At the same time, the judge has the right to remove anyone. I can't see a judge putting a random person in cuffs for sleeping. Which is why I don't like the guy. At the same time I'm not inclined to think he would have provided in legitimate legal punishment such as detention or a fine nor would he have had any ground to do so.
There is precedence for a judge possibly declaring a mistrial if a juror falls asleep during proceedings, but even they aren't handcuffed and placed in a jumpsuit. In most cases they just wake the juror, repeat anything pertinent info he may have missed and if he keeps falling asleep they dismiss the juror and bring in an alternate.

You gotta be careful. Especially if you are black and it's a white judge. A black juror can fukk around a miss jury duty and that white judge will put you in jail. It's happened.

I've already talked about my job. I see it literally everyday. In fact Tuesday morning I got a call at 4am. I've been doing emergency placement of a 12 year old and 10 year old black kid. They ran away from home at like 1am.

What im willing to divulge is they ran away, were banging on someone's door at 1am. The people thought their house was being broken into and told the police they looked like 2 young black teenagers.

Fortunately, it wasn't the case at all. They ran away from home. And now they are staying with me in temporary custody. Even I have to stay in a house 30 minutes from my own house. Until they either find another associate or maybe get sent back home, but for now they can't go home, and they're likely 99% going to foster care. And there first days of school was yesterday. I had to take them. I had to pick them up.

I have all the empathy in the world. It's literally what I do.

Trust my wife worked with kids from the spectrum to runaways. She has stories for days about how the system is and the issues that come with trying to help the youth (especially doing the right thing). I get your frustrations as these youngins can be a pain in the damn ass, but these kids need more Judge Wapner than Robocop.

Fair but understanding.

Instead of "FOR GOOD" which been used as overkill to a misguided teen that used to be us...the old heads.

I don't believe in that for good shyt.

The way I operate is I help others to the best of my ability, and in that I help them help themselves, I'm not religious but God helps those who help them self and if you aren't willing to help yourself there no amount of help someone can give you. You have to carry the load. And you gotta do it the right way.

I told the kids yesterday that I think the best thing they did was run and get help, but there is a way that's more safe for them to do so. There was at least 7 cop cars and all white cops ready to lynch some nikkas.

But they weren't being bad, and of the 3 officers I spoke to that were cacs (they all were cacs), they were professional and serious about it with me. Saying "yeah those kids can't go back home, it's pretty bad there."

I know you've been through some stuff before and I came through on that and I'd do it again. I take care of people, my people, until they prove that they don't want it (rejecting assistance).

My only professional complaint that I received was from a cac. He's been homeless for like 20 years. I met him, I did my job and helped him. Months later, I get another client, guess who it is....I help him again...probably not even a full year later, guess who's back.

I straight up asked him "what can I do for you?"
"I need assistance".
"Well are you just looking for a place to stay tonight or are you trying to get clean and secure for a while?"
"Are you gonna help me or not?"
"I can't help you if you don't tell me what you want or need. This is our 3rd time doing the same thing. So what we've done twice isn't working."
"Then fukk you!!!!"

He files a complaint. It gets reviewed. No action filed.

Probably 4-5 months later now he's in hospital care because he was using some drug while living in the streets and got sick, his damn kidneys shut down and he nearly died and now needs dialysis 3x a week. But of course that's my fault....

Scared straight for what? She wasn't there because she was misbehaving. She didn't need to be scared straight. She didn't need to be called out. The most the judge should have done was pull her aside and say it was disrespectful to fall asleep in court even as an observer.

All love and good stuff :wow:

Sympathy is so trying nowadays, its not even funny. Like, for every person that needs help, there's an oversaturation of those that manipulate the system. I had seen it for myself working for nonprofits and it sucks because it's 3 card Monty and you are tired of getting burnt.

It doesn't help that the organizations mismanaged money and just pat folks on the butt with a voucher and or a home, just for them to take it for granted. For instance, this jawn when I was in shelter at the time was gloating about "WELL I'M BACK HURR AGAIN TRYIN TO GET A VOUCHER FOR HOUSING" like she didn't sugarcoat it or anything. Just allowed the system to chew and keep spitting her out, along with her kids. I have horror stories for days with the type of folks that take advance of programs, while those that are in dire need (like my family and I at the time), kept going through these endless loops.

The game is rigged down to having orientation to experience the judicial system :francis:

Judge spells out his viewpoint pretty clear.

He viewed her disposition as disrespectful to the court and decided to use it as a teachable moment. Said it was more than just the act of sleeping. Everyone laughed at the end.

My guess is, since it’s Detroit, he seen a whole bunch of BS walkin in his courtroom that he’s had to address one way or another. Judge aimed to nip any misconception about the seriousness of court in the bud for the girl/class.

Could fly 15yrs ago. Not today.

Making the girl put on a uniform was OD, but I’m getting mixed-messages whether that happened or not? Only read the OP

There are people that play the system. There's also the part where the system sucks. They definitely both play a part in the revolving door.

I hate writing people off because if a person wants help and there are resources in place to help a person, they will receive help. Sometimes the persons need exceeds the resources available. And sometimes the resources available are greater than the need which can create a system of dependency.

You stupid ass c00n mutt. I hope your children encounter adults just like that judge.

shyt obvious that you came from a weak upbringing. Your parents didn't handle their responsibilities and that's why you are a bitter bytch nikka.

You definitely didn't have a father in your home. :unimpressed:

Both my parents taught me respect and EMPATHY.

You dusty clown ass p*ssy.
Since you want some attention so bad...my father (a loving husband and father of 5 children) was murdered protecting someone. He died right in front of me when i was 5. We went from middle class to the projects because of his death. My great mother on her own forced all her kids to still channel our anger into our education. She died my senior year in high school. All my parents kids are college graduates and married. So they did a fantastic job along with my grandparents. So i be damn if ima let a dusty ass nikka like yourself disrespect them. nikka take yo bytch ass to therapy. Everyday you on the site crying and whinning like a bytch every fukking post in every thread.
