all of this...and thats killing wrestling more than bad booking

I wouldn't say more than bad booking but you have to admit that they keep losing older fans while not gaining any newer fans. Despite knowing it was scripted people still thought wrestlers were badasses up until Twitter and IG got big.

Not defending the old man, and I like her on Impact, but her Twitter has put me off a LOT.

She kept her DMs open to weirdos, only to sell books about those messages, yet encourages fans to buy her things (like a milkshake from room service).

The name change was also an attention grab that undermines her draw and her business.

I know this isn't Mexico, but she's a performer, not an actress...it doesn't exactly invoke commitment to the craft.

Yeah, I've gathered that she's high key lame as a person.

That DM shyt is SUPER corny. We're far enough into the existence of Twitter and Instagram that any person that posts thirst traps and leaves their DMs open knows exactly what they're getting themselves into. Putting people on blast for essentially doing exactly what they were set up to do makes you look naive at best, and like an a$$hole to your customer base at worst.

But really, the fact these wrestlers keep engaging Cornette when it's obvious he's just looking for someone to troll is embarrassing. I think maybe they think they're going to be the one to finally get one over on him for that "gotcha" moment. That shyt ain't happening. How does a wrestler not know when they're being worked? :scust:

Read my post above this one. And Ballet, when in a competitive context, is more of a sport than wrestling.

I guess it depends on what a person considers competitive context. For example there are Ballet competitions but they are judged after their performance by a panel and then given a prize afterwards.

In wrestling you could still find competitive things like who got biggest pop of the night, who got the most heat of the night, who had the best match of the night, and who sold the most merch. If they gave those awards out officially at the end of shows it would be no different from another other judged sport.

per·for·mance art
/pərˈfôrməns ärt/
noun
  1. an art form that combines visual art with dramatic performance.
Depending on the match itself, it can definitely express themes about society. A Ted Dibiase match might express the unfair power that the rich has. A Bray Wyatt match might express the internal psychological struggles Bray faces. Steve Austin was a manifestation of the every man and their desires to fight back against the establishment and their bosses etc

Its more of a performance art than it is a sport, no question

The thing to understand is the intention behind the performance. The point of performance in wrestling is to entertain. You can culturally analyse it - as you can with any medium of entertainment - but no wrestling event has been planned with the main point of being art itself. Whereas that's the case with performance art.

Edit - Didn't reply to your last point. To keep it real - I don't like calling pro-wrestling a sport so maybe 'sports entertainment' really is a great way to describe it, after all

I agree but they don't. Instead people like Cornette want us to pretend the in ring action is actual competitive combat. He's out of touch.

At the end of the day, you can consider it a performance art or not - but its definitely not a sport. It's a mock sport at best.

Yeah her Twitter has put me off lately. It's just turned into her shilling her Patreon page and attention grabbing with a lot of her comments.
