When you start saying it's performance art and it's fake, you shouldn't be doing it period. This generation of wrestler shows a ton of contempt for the business.
Not defending the old man, and I like her on Impact, but her Twitter has put me off a LOT.Jordynne been on that “let’s just treat it like community theater” swag for a while now. Can’t say I agree with her but I wouldn’t disrespect her to the level of Cornette though.
So many people in the business who don’t respect it or are embarrassed by it. Say what you will about Nash and the “miles & money” but he at least took some measure of pride in what he did.
That time Russo booked an angle where Goldberg went "off the script."
She's not wrong. Sport would indicate a competition without a predetermined outcome.
Something Pro Wrestling is not. It's athletic but not actual competition.
Hence why Vince loves to call it entertainment.
The random butterface joke didn't do him any favors...like he's good looking?
Tell Corny if its not a performance art, why does he walk around with a tennis racket...is this the US Open?
Competition is an unavoidable part of how any society defines what's a sport. Sorry, professional wrestling is a not sport. That shouldn't be conflated with the discussion with whether or not its real. Depending on how you define real, it certainly can be. But unless its a shoot, it can never be a sport.
per·for·mance artPerformance art? What themes are being artistically expressed during a wrestling match? What questions about identity and society are being asked?
Wrestling might not be a 'sport' but at this shyt
Read my post above this one. And Ballet, when in a competitive context, is more of a sport than wrestling.Obviously, it's not a sport but calling it "performance art" is more disrespectful than sports entertainment. People didn't bleed, lose teeth, broken bones, and even get brain damage for "performance art".
As JR would say "this ain't ballet".
Edit: Calling it a performance art is even disrespectful to actual performance artists like Marina Abramovic.

I agree, while I think that Corny was doing too much, I also don’t get this push from wrestlers today that say “Hey Guys! What we do is fake!”. Everyone knows wrestling isn’t a real sport, how about doing a good job at making us suspend our beliefs and making it seem real.
These new wrestlers are like Post Malone, they benefit from the product but are quick to disrespect the product.
Flair and Sting didn’t put on classics for Pro Wrestling to just be called an art.
Mick Foley didn’t get his ear chopped off in the name of art, he didn’t get CTE from The Rock hitting him head 11 times in the name of art.
Chris Jericho didn’t wrestle on every livable continent in nearly every company in the name of art.
