Meh.
Plenty of NFL brothers didn’t kneel and that was before it was a trend, when Kap took all the heat along with anybody who joined him. Now since a corporation makes it cool your mad....

Where was all the vitriol for some of the black brothers when they stood ?

Please.

People can do what they want and shouldn’t be shamed for what they choose is what I say.

I don’t see how this is different than the statement on jersey situation

Players were himming and hawwing about kneeling for years and never did it.

Agreed, but to your point if Silver publicly comes out and says it's "ok", that lessens the power of the move. He even recognized this that's why he's balked at the idea he could "allow" them to do it. Yahoo is now a part of Verizon Media

At the end of the day this stuff is all performative to a point, even Kap's initial protest. These types of actions are all about continuing the conversation and that conversation didn't start with Kap. LeBron and other NBA players were rocking "We Can't Breathe t-shirts" two years before Kap kneeled. The difference is his sport has a whiter and more conservative audience so he caught hell for it, which in turn morphed the act of kneeling into a much bigger symbol than it was or even arguably should've been. At the end of the day the player's are speaking out and putting actions behind their words and the league is doing a decent job of supporting them. The NBA is still a corporation and worried about their bottom line (see China) so I'm definitely not praising them, but they are and have been light years ahead of every other league on this stuff.

The energy may have changed, but as of right now... it's literally the only change that's happened that's worth a shyt. No one asked for Jemima or Ben to get pulled off products. We asked for criminal justice reform and for there to be a deep, hard look at the way overpolicing and excessive jailing are being used as a system of control specifically to divide families and deprive largely black men of their agency, their freedom and their rights. Slavery didn't go anywhere, it got a PR team and rebranded itself. And until that discussion is had and actual, tangible changes start to happen... energy don't mean shyt because nothing has actually been done that will ensure next year will be a better year in America for people with melanin.
Vote.

Everything about how the NBA goes about social issues is measured, non-rabble rouser and safe. He waited until the coast was clear and the moment was right instead of letting it be organic like it was for the WNBA and NFL players.

Vote for who ?

The wicked old creep who called black pwople animals and drew up a bill that created the environment with police that we see now ... ?

Black people have no where to turn in this country.

shyt is sad.
Change what you can change or tap out. You're here to move the ball forward for those coming after you. Giving up and being apathetic won't help your seeds have a better life than you did.

If we get nothing out of a Biden term besides a black liberal SJC and a remix of the Obama years that's much better than the alternative.
