Fetterman was always a means to an end and ultimately Republicans didn't control the senate. That's all that mattered to me. Not sure what some of you guys were expecting.
I checked his voting record. Seems to be in line with what he ran on for the most part.

:manny:

Progressives just mad he doesn’t want to sit with them. :manny:

That’s all that matters. I seriously do not know what people on this forum want

You need to be in power to move forward

And the primary reason to vote should be to Minimize Republican power

His unapologetic support of Israel and the way he used the progressive movement to get elected and then turned into Joe Manchin Jr.
What does this mean? Manchin gave Dems a seat in WV and voted for every Biden Judge and bill that Biden signed

Explain how Manchin is bad?

Exactly. He's like Manchin was. Just take the W. Quit the litmus tests.

Let your differences be your differences
What do you mean by litmus test? Let’s be real, you’re a centrist. And it’s annoying as hell that centrists and moderates feel they can loudly voice their opinions but others cannot voice theirs or advocate for what they want. Fetterman won primary because of the left coalescing around him. Voters have a right to express their displeasure and to push for what they want. No one said replace him with a Republican. Republican voters express anger at their reps all the time. Only on the left are people told to shut up and it’s really only because you don’t care about what they care about. Manchin just retired, why the hell would he beholden to anything in WV? What progressive economic stance would’ve cost him his narrowly held seat?

what if Manchin, and bear with me here; just doesn't hold those fukking stances? :dead:

if he held those stances, that you WANTED him to hold, he would not exist. he would not BE the senator from west virginia. so YOU are the one who wants him to compromise his principles

watching you guys compare manchin to bernie sanders, and question how/why they didn't vote the same, was truly bizarre

Was that supposed to be some sort of mic drop? :comeon:

The 13th Amendment to ban slavery in all America passed by a vote of 119 to 56, just barely getting over the 2/3 threshold. Do you know how many of those Representatives actually held that stance? If everyone had voted their actual stance, then it wouldn't even have reached 50%, much less 2/3rds.

Same with the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act. Plenty of politicians voted for civil rights who were NOT elected by their constituents to support civil rights, nor did they necessarily believe it themselves.

I'm not going to sit and wait for every congressman's conscience to chance in order for shyt to get done, because politicians are generally a$$holes. I'm happy with every other bit of possible pressure being applied to them too.

i'm just glad Manchin is gone, so you now have Jim Justice in that seat voting 100% MAGA on every issue. that's clearly what you preferred :yeshrug:

How many times have I pointed out that you deal with every uncomfortable point by moving the goalposts and deflecting?

I never said I wanted Manchin out, but he was going to be out either way. One of the biggest ways that Lincoln got the 13th Amendment passed was by leaning on lame duck congressmen to vote for it.....even when they weren't elected to support that stance, even when they didn't believe in it themselves.

There was nothing wrong with leaning on Manchin to do something other than what West Virginia wanted him to do. And there's nothing wrong with thinking he was an a$$hole for not doing the right thing.

or maybe, given the way inflation is hitting west virginians right now, manchin didn't believe that printing more money for irresponsible, pork-filled, bullshyt Democrat spending programs was the right thing :ehh:

how's these 7% interest rates hitting, for west virginians trying to buy homes?
