How many times have I pointed out that you deal with every uncomfortable point by moving the goalposts and deflecting?

I never said I wanted Manchin out, but he was going to be out either way. One of the biggest ways that Lincoln got the 13th Amendment passed was by leaning on lame duck congressmen to vote for it.....even when they weren't elected to support that stance, even when they didn't believe in it themselves.

There was nothing wrong with leaning on Manchin to do something other than what West Virginia wanted him to do. And there's nothing wrong with thinking he was an a$$hole for not doing the right thing.
Didn’t Manchin vote for every Biden bill that passed?

What did y’all want Manchin to do that he didn’t do ?

the ether
or maybe, given the way inflation is hitting west virginians right now, manchin didn't believe that printing more money for irresponsible, pork-filled, bullshyt Democrat spending programs was the right thing :ehh:

how's these 7% interest rates hitting, for west virginians trying to buy homes?

opposing the awful pork spending that's led to high interest rates and inflation is a principle :ehh: maybe you disagree with it

lol at thinking that Manchin is against "pork spending", or that "pork spending" is what caused inflation. :mjlol:

That fake excuse doesn't even come close to explaining all his no votes. For example:

1. He voted against Biden's plan for student loan debt relief
2. He voted against Biden's plan to allow investment funds to consider ESG more broadly
3. He forced Biden to severely reduce the climate goals in the initial Inflation Reduction Act
4. He threatened to work to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act if Biden invested too much in green energy
5. He blocked multiple Biden nominees for the EPA

There was more than that. He basically fought for the coal lobby at every turn, even when it would hurt his average constituent.

He blocked multiple environmental regulations, environmental investments, and nominations for EPA officials. Even for the bills that passed eventually, they only passed after Manchin succeeded in getting significant pro-environment legislation removed.

What do you mean by litmus test? Let’s be real, you’re a centrist. And it’s annoying as hell that centrists and moderates feel they can loudly voice their opinions but others cannot voice theirs or advocate for what they want. Fetterman won primary because of the left coalescing around him. Voters have a right to express their displeasure and to push for what they want. No one said replace him with a Republican. Republican voters express anger at their reps all the time. Only on the left are people told to shut up and it’s really only because you don’t care about what they care about. Manchin just retired, why the hell would he beholden to anything in WV? What progressive economic stance would’ve cost him his narrowly held seat?

Would you rather have Dr fukkin Oz in that seat ?!??

Fukkin deal with a different gotdamn opinion.

Y'all the same fools who are think Newsome is viable in 2028 :mjlol:

I read posts like this and realize you brehs just want kings and queens to give fidelity too.

You don’t want to hold elected officials to any account if they rocking the right colors. Thinking like that is why democracy is in the toilet.

Is having him there better than Oz? Yes or no?

Fukkin dumbasses. Tap Newsome in 2028 over someone like Whitmer, Cooper or Andy from Kentucky to prove a point and lemme know how that works.

Even the super progressive candidate Obama candidate ran smack into the reality of governing.

Y'all are delusional.

I reject this premise because this wasn’t the discussion. @No1 specifically mentioned the primaries.

Can someone clarify what homie means here?

You know exactly what I mean by talking about Gavin Newsome.

Folks here think that a super progressive, tax and spend, budget deficit busting, congressional seat and population losing Governor is a great choice rather than a Whitmer or Andy is a great idea. Him ethering DeSantis is a viable candidate not.

Please elaborate how Obama candidacy wasn't progressive. It ran smack dab into the reality of governing.

I'm a huge fan of his and even volunteered helping sign folks up for the ACA.

Y'all swear up and down if someone doesn't check every fukkin box someone is hating.

Folks that vote Dem are better on your fukkin side than not.

you said he was super progressive, so go back to his 2008 campaign and point out what was super progressive.

The ACA was a heritage foundation plan That Mitt Romney put up when he ran for governor of Massachusetts.

Obama didn't campaign on universal health care, closing Guantanamo? He had to settle for the middle ground on the ACA due to the reality of politics.

How about this for you being so fukkin dense

I don't have to agree with every position you take as a Democrat to support Democratic causes and candidates. The alternative is the gotdamn devil

Like how hard is that?!!!

Obama has ALWAYS been a moderate, he's never been seen or claimed to be a progressive.

no  everyone should be judged like they represent dark blue districts. we won't keep seats, but we'll keep our principles

As much as I hate to agree with you, you're correct.

This whole " you must be progressive at all costs ' is fukkin dumb.

Take the wins where you can get them. Cause contrary to this board it's a 50/50 country.
