Companies are know for this. Remember how the only time you saw commercials with an all-Black cast was during the Soul Train Awards?

My thing is, you're supposed to recast with the same amount of star power. Who is this Asian guy?
I don't know him either but you do realize China has their own celebrities right?

The argument that Chinese people are comfortable with black entertainers being on their television screens as athletes, but not as actors in Western companies' commercials or Western movies is... well, I mean, it's plausible, but it sounds more retarded than logical, to me.
How is that retarded...?

It's strange how when white America makes up things about black people, we're up in arms questioning it, but when they make up stuff about other groups, we accept it without question.

Chinese people aren't any more or less prejudice towards black people than Japanese people or Korean people. So, then the question becomes, why is the media so obsessed with Chinese anti-blackness, but not so much anti-blackness in Japan or South Korea? The difference is white America hates one country's government and love the other(s.)

Be more than a retarded tool, brehs.

Everyone in Asia knows there are large numbers of black people in America and Europe, so why wouldn't there be black people in Western companies' commercials...? It's not a personal affront like a Chinese company filling a Chinese ad with black people would be.

In one of my post above I talked about the movie Think like a Man being banned in France. French people know that there are black people in America.

Same thing when John Boyega is left out of the Chinese Star Wars cover. Surely they're not surprised that a Black man is part of an American produced space adventure movie?

The truth of the matter is people will select the boxes in which they want others to act. A Black person in the role of the basketball player, the rapper or even the jazz musician, sticks worldwide. Outside of these boxes and a few others, when it comes to foreign movies from predominantly non-black countries, people globally would rather see local non-black people or their own represented.

Racism is certainly not about coherence.

There's nothing incorrect about your post. The next step is to test whether they hold up to the reality of a situation. What I (tried to clearly) explain in my initial post is China is no more or less prejudice than East Asian nations the United States government has good relations with, so - again - why is there such an intense focus on China alone? In Japan, I never saw a single black person in a Western clothing and apparel store sign until the summer of 2016 (H&M.) Why doesn't "concerned" media give Japan the same grief as they give China?

What clear cut examples do you have FROM Chinese people or companies that they are simultaneously $4,000,000,000,000 ok with black athletes, but not ok with black actors in WESTERN movies, television programs and movies? Walt Disney is run by white people and Jews. Jo Malone is run by white people (and maybe Jews; never heard of them before today.) The only "proof" I've come across regarding this claim that Chinese people hate and despise black actors is American media using a couple examples of Western companies minimizing or eliminating us in advertisements. In return...

Exact same poster as the American one.

Similar to the American one, but the background in the American one is black, so I dunno - y'all might be right.

The "Pacific Rim" movies are huge in China, and the sequel to the first (which is headlined by......... John Boyega... derp) was one of 2018's most anticipated foreign films. The "Fast & Furious" franchise is the second largest foreign film franchise in China and... all of the movie posters are the same as their American versions. "Black Panther" was one of the top ten grossing films of 2018 there (please don't copy/paste the five or six troll anonymous troll comments from Douban as your "proof" Chinese people bash their TV screens in when a black person shows up in a commercial.) This doesn't mean Chinese people are anti-black - ALL non-black groups are anti-black - I'm asking for evidence they are so much more anti-black than other groups that we need to give their anti-blackness the absurd level of attention we (recently) started giving it.

My default setting when white people clamor about something is Disbelief. You all's should be too.

China is basically still in the early 20th century when it comes to race. Theyre several years behind. Black people report open 1940s style racism from them all the time. Rice cacs ain't shyt.

I'm not disagreeing with nor addressing what you're saying about the particular focus on Chinese Negrophobia by Western media. I spoke on that subject several times on this forum when it comes to Chinese business in Africa, and how the West tries to paint a picture of an Asian neocolonizer when the old ones never left. I don't think neither that Chinese are more or less negrophobe than any other non-black group.

I'm discussing the statement that Chinese (non-black people for that matter, whether they'd be French, Chinese or American) could not appreciate Black people on their screen as athletes while simultaneously tend to erase them when they are depicted outside of a few stereotypes. You said the contrary was retarded, I think it's not, because we see it happen pretty regularly throughout these different societies.

The examples you show are interesting, but don't contradict what I'm saying: "Outside of these boxes and a few others, when it comes to foreign movies from predominantly non-black countries, people globally would rather see local non-black people or their own represented" <- this is not equal to: "The Chinese will never ever not modify a foreign poster with a Black actor nor will they appreciate a movie with Black actors in it".

I understand your point of view. I think the "stereotype" or "role" is that of entertainer, which encompasses athlete, actor, singer, etc. I think it's retarded for the media to acknowledge the popularity of black entertainers as athletes (in a Western sport), but claim black entertainers as actors (in Western films) is an entirely different category.

In my experience with East Asians and other non-black racial and ethnic groups, they definitely prefer local media be foreign-free, but, again, don't necessarily have any negative opinions on Western media featuring black characters. They understand that black people live in the West and so seeing black people in Western media is nothing unusual or offensive.

I checked out the last few years of Chinese movie posters for American films featuring black leads or high-profile co-stars and............... not a single one of them has any minimization or elimination of black characters besides the "The Force Awakens" poster. Not one. Even the "they're hiding Chadwick Boseman's face" "Black Panther" poster is fake news, I just discovered. The masked poster was a part of a series of promotional posters released globally. Someone took the Hong Kong version of the masked one, made the claim "they're hiding his black face - racists" and the Internet ran with it, because way too many people believe the first thing they see.

These are some of the ones from the US series.

Here are some of the Chinese ones - including the non-masked one.

Guess who the first Hollywood actor to do a post-premiere appearance in China was?

Will Smith, for "Men in Black 3" in 2012. MIB3's three largest grossing markets were... the United States....... China and Russia. Here's the Chinese poster.

I know I'm doing too much, but I honestly can' t stand when white people make up and perpetuate bullshyt about other groups of people and said bullshyt becomes "fact," because I - we all - know how they do it to us. In this instance, they're doing it to deflect away from their own prejudices. "Well, at least we put The Blacks on our movie posters!" I want my issues with non-white groups to be based in legitimacy, not in white America's divide-n-conquer propaganda.
