Embiid did go a little overboard, especially when she had to put her hand over her face because he got a little too close. I'm talking head-to-head close, and a few more inches, he'd (unintentionally) dayum near headbutt her if not for Lowry intervening.
It has nothing to do with gender. Had he gotten in a male referee's face, I guarantee he'd be ejected, too; it's not about the prospect of him putting hands on her, but rather, there are boundaries to having “fire for the game” compared to just getting crazy and going over the edge to intimidate a ref to rescind their calls.

I agree with ejecting him for getting too close to a ref in general. I don’t agree with the extra sauce because she’s a female referee. If we’re gonna play that game then male refs should officiate NBA games, and female refs should officiate WNBA games.

They're taking one woman's opinion and running wild with it, hence the tone and nature of their posts where they can get off their women-hating bullshyt. We have multiple posters coming in here saying how women shouldn't be anywhere near the NBA. The large majority of posters who come into this thread wouldn't have even heard what Stephanie Ready said in the first place, yet it still hasn't stopped them from using the thread title as a means to be outraged thinking there was some grand narrative being run about how there's accusations of Embiid trying to assault her.
Nobody has accused him of anything.
Proving my point that the real sensationalism is actually coming from the side that is trying to speak women's outrage over this into existence.
In regards to the issue that Stephanie perceives, well, I think that's an entirely different argument to the one that's being presented with this thread, and it's a lot more nuanced than a lot of cats on here are willing to discuss, for obvious reasons.
