If I was very cynical I would say he is there to thwart any real progress from the current status quo. But I'm an optimist so I won't go there.

I thought it was all political kabuki leading up to them removing the filibuster for voting rights.....

This could be the last act before he finally bends for the John Lewis voting act but it’s coming down to the last second for him to say “he see’s the Republicans are obstructing” and gets in line. Multiple parties would only work in a parliamentary system. Our government isn’t set up like that so any third party vote is a vote against your interest
