Joe Manchin: I won’t vote for For The People Act or Weaken/Eliminate Filibuster!

Is the Democrats’ legislative agenda finished in the Biden era?

That's actually about the only thing Pressure said that did make sense though. Manchin's been entrenched in WV politics for damn near 40 yrs. This is still mostly on them.
Y'all gone come around to the fact that most voters are self interested and their isn't shyt logical how they determine what makes them happy when they vote.

Embrace the cynicism :banderas:

And while I don't agree with a lot of what @DEAD7 tends to say, I do agree with him that America isn't a bad place to live comparatively and for that reason and how our government is setup there will rarely be the required push for large transformative policy unless there's war or a another long running crisis.

dems talk about things that they would never do lol

rethugs do as well but not as much
The honest truth is that Republicans are much more afraid of their voters than Democrats. For better and for worse. On one hand, Republicans are scared more into falling in line with what the Republican Zeitgeist dictates. It started with Eric Cantor losing his seat after Republican talking heads and agenda pushers really hammered him for his failures on Immigration. Now, after Trump, they are scared to ever deviate from the larger republican narrative which is larger centered on Trumpism now. So, the average Republican voter may get more of what they want than the Democrats.

The bad part of this is that I forgot who said it but it was a Democrat talking about some Republican congress members "cowardice" (or self-interested preservation depending on how you look at it) and he said this Republican told him straight up that his voters are crazy and they have guns they aren't afraid to use.

My realpolitik cynicism kind of sympathize with the fear voters hold over politicians like in the previous paragraph. Power is really only derived from asserting some sort of power and this includes fear of violence. But also other ways like voting but some of these dudes are immune to that because of how lazy the average voter can be and lack of imagination of going through the process of removing established politicians and trying someone new.

But it’s their lying and falsehoods that created the dangerous constituents he’s talking about. This is a BS excuse.

The minimum worse thing is they would be voted out which is what they really hate. Working 100 days a year and getting kickbacks from wealthy donors.
